The vehicle dashboard and doors materials are melted/sticky/glossy, cannot be touched or even clean, my main concern is the airbag.

I have complained to the Lexus dealership as well as sonic about this dashboard. My warranty was valid my first several complaints, pictures were taken by a Lexus rep and sent to corporate. At that time corporate denied complaint I personally called and a rep told me that they have received calls in regards to melting sticky dashboard and they having this problem with people that live in hot humid climate. I was in disbelief that the rep told that to me. I asked the rep who makes a car based on climate weather I live in Alabama and in the summer with the sun beaming on dashboard can possibly cause a car accident. Safety safety has been my main concern this is dangerous. They called me and said they worked pay 20% then a couple days later said 20% only towards parts.

The air bag light came on in our 2007 Lexus Is 250. We recently brought it into the Lexus of cherry hill (NJ) dealership for a couple other recall items, and figured that we better have this air bag issue looked over as soon as possible. Thinking it was an electrical/circuit problem, we were completely shocked when the Lexus representative stated that admittedly there was a manufacturer's defect in the air bag cable harness; it was made too short in the Lexus 2006 - 2007 Is 250 models. After researching, I saw that this exact information is all over the internet, posted by other angry 2006 - 2007 Lexus Is 250 owners. In summary, the air bags will now not deploy during vehicle impact, until we, the consumer, pay $3,500 to get them fixed. I went around-and-around with Lexus of cherry hill and their corporate office in California, fighting, because I see no reason why, I, the consumer, must pay a hefty price for an extremely important safety defect that is 100% Lexus' flaw. I have managed to get my out-of-pocket cost down to $2,300 now, but it is $2,300 of my hard earned money which was saved for a 2015 vacation, that I absolutely should not have to put out for this major manufacturer defect. They recalled our car at no cost, for wiper blades and floor mats, but Lexus refuses to make right what they built wrong, which could cause life-threatening injuries or death. Has Toyota/Lexus learned nothing from GM?

The dashboard panel has deteriorated to the point that it Is soft, tacky, and a significant glare Is reflected onto the windshield reducing a driver's visibility. The deterioration continues to worsen spreading throughout the dashboard where the passenger airbag Is enclosed.

My 2007 Lexus IS250 dashboard has sticky/melting issue. While driving during summer hot day in Texas, the melting dashboard generates light reflection on windshield makes me difficult to see the front objects. It also makes me feel unsafe because airbags just under it. Not sure airbags get deployed in the right time or not if an accident happens. Lexus should recall dashboards.

The dashboard of my 07 Lexus Is 250 has been oozing a greasy unknown chemical. Aside from being unsightly and dirty, this sticky dashboard poses a severe safety issue. On sunny days, very common in S.Florida, the chemical ooze produces a glare on the windshield that impairs the driver from having a clear unobstructed view of the road. I almost struck a pedestrian due to the fact that he was unseen by me due to the blind spot created by the glare. Luckily, I was able to stop in time. Being able to clearly view the road is essential in conducting a vehicle safely. Research needs to be conducted to see if the defective dashboards will have an impact on the effective and safe deployment of the passenger airbags if a slight graze by a fingernail on the dashboard causes it to break off, how will the it react with the speed and power that an airbag deployment will have. Another safety concern, that needs to be investigated is the toxic impact that this chemical creates, especially after being exposed to the heat of a parked car in the sun. Is anybody investigating the impact that this defective material may have on the health of my family and myself, after being exposed to this unknown substance on a daily basis" this material is reacting so unexpectedly by falling apart, how do we know it is not toxic? I 'm the original owner of this 'luxury vehicle' who has less than 60,500 miles. Lexus and the dealer, offered 25% off to repair the defective dashboard and doors. It is disappointing and troublesome to realize that Lexus does not acknowledge that this safety and quality issue is due to defective materials and not caused by regular wear and tear. What criteria does Lexus use to decide who gets this manufacturer defect repaired for free and who pays $3000? how is it possible that my floor mats have outlived my dashboard and door panels"

Took car to dealership due to shiny and sticky dashboard. Was told this Is a known problem but will not repair under good will since warranty has passed. Dashboard Is extremely sticky, will this cause air bag problems during an accident? the shiny surface also reflects and makes driving difficult in sunlight.

I was driving South in my car during the middle of the day, and the glare from my dashboard was so bad I wasn't able to see a car appx 30 feet in front of me. There was no accident, but due to Lexus using defective materials for their dashboard, it has melted and become shiny enough to be a real danger as the glare fully impedes view while driving in sunlight. As the passenger airbag is also contained in the dash, I have heard of a danger of it being triggered as well due to this issue. I contacted both Lexus customer support as well as my local Lexus dealership. I found online that there was purportedly a service bulletin that was issued to by Lexus (I obtained a copy online) to dealers in 2011 informing them of the material problem and availability of replacement parts (affected both dash and door panels), but bulletin this was not communicated to owners (I.e. no recall), so I was never made aware and was out of warranty at the time the bulletin was issued as it was only effective 48 months from in-service date even though my model year was included in the affected vehicles. The most they were willing to cover was 50% of the replacement part cost. My responsibility would have been $2800 to fully re-mediate the issues (dash and doors), which I declined as I feel Lexus should be fully accountable as the problem is admittedly due to faulty material used in the manufacture of certain years/vins of their vehicles. This also impacts my resale value even though that alone is not safety-related, it should be considered as well. I took cell phone video of the glare from my dash that impeded view and have that available if needed.
