I have a Lexus Is 250 2007, the dashboard material is low grade and unsafe, for visibility while driving in day hours. When I was notified by a friend that the Lexus organization have made a recall on the all the Lexus cars such as mine, I called the dealership in my city houston tx and they did not help me, and they said the recall don't exist.
Defective lcd/touch screen. While driving in the rain, the touchscreen digitizer failed on my car. The windows started to fog up and I realized since the touchscreen failed, I had no way to defog my windshield and other windows. Because I am only able to access the fan controls for both heat and ac, via the touchscreen. So I had to pull over on the sparse emergency pullovers on I66-va several times to manually wipe my windows so I could see. This happened at the worst time because it was during rush-hour, in a downpour. This created a very dangerous situation for me and other drivers as visibility was poor during the downpour. I have researched this on several Lexus/Toyota sites and the wiring of lcd/touchscreen digitizer appears to be a common defect and fails regularly. I am surprised that such a life - safety feature would be dependant on a failure prone system.
I own a 2007 Lexus Is 250, I took it to the shop early last year for some repairs and I inquired about the cracked and/or sticky/melting dashboard and front and rear interior door panel, was suppose to be added to the list for repairs, which is a safet hazard because the melting of the dashboard create a glare which make it difficult to see. Spoke with dealership to see if I was added to the list. I have even spoke with the Lexus Corp. I received an initial letter pertaining to the problem which stated that another notification letter would be sent out once sufficient parts have been prepared and obtained for replacement due to this cosmetic condition. Never did get the second letter and now I'm being told that all repairs habe been completed, mean while I'm riding in a Lexus that if I touched the door it dissolves.

Hi I have a 07 IS250 sedan the front dash get really sticky during the summer when you park your car out side in the sun. During the winter or raining season its dry and peels. My problem is when hot the dashboard get sticky like glue
My vehicle is one of the models affected by the sticky 'melting' dashboard issue made known to the public a few years ago. When driving during the day, sunlight creates a blinding reflection onto the windshield'making it impossible to see what's in front of you. This problem almost resulted in an auto accident for me two weeks ago while driving through an intersection.
Lexus Is 250 dashboard is melting. Very sticky substance, bright sun and headlights cause dangerous glare on windshield. Compromises the effectiveness of the airbags in the case that they would need to deploy. Lexus refuses to fix the issue as well as Toyota. The melting dash also emits a odor when in the direct sunlight and actively melting, that gives a headache. The "safeness" of my vehicle is now extremely compromised as well as the value.
Dash has started to get stickey and shiney which reflects off the windshield making it impossible to see the road in front of the automobile, this is especially dangerious in sunlight or bright streetlight this condition has progressively worse over time!
On July 6th 2017 at about 4:15 pm I was heading to work. After about 500 feet. Before entering a three way intersection, I released the gas pedal to stop accelerating and cruise to prepare to brake in order to make the left turn. But suddenly the gas pedal accelerated by itself and caused my car to keep accelerating straight towards the side walk intersecting with my direction. I turned my wheel left and braked hard even activating the anti braking system. I also had to use the emergency brake to assist in stopping the car. It took about 150 feet after the left turn before I fully stopped. Even after stopping I was was not able to turn off the engine immediately. I kept pressing on the push start button for a few minutes before the engine finally turned off. The incident reminded me about the gas pedal lock up situation years ago with Toyota. After calming down from the fear and shaking I tried to turn on the engine to see if it would operate normally. After verifying that everything was back to normally. I cautiously and carefully drove it back to my house. I did not use the car for a week and then had it towed to Lexus dealership for inspection. The inspection took one week. They said that they could not find anything wrong with the car. They also test drove the car for less than 10 miles. I was not satisfied with the answer so I contacted Lexus headquarters again to request a third party inspection. They refused because the car was not involved in an accident with another car. They also advised me to keep driving the car because they said they put a lot of trust in their auto-mechanics. However after all this I still have a lot of fear to drive the car but I don't have any other choice. Now I only use this car to go to work and have to always be extremely cautious when driving it due to fear of this incident repeating itself.
It's slimy and sticky and so when you're driving in the sun on the highway or city streets, it creates a glare on your dashboard making it unsafe. The stickiness on the door panels gets caught up in my nails.
The front dashboard and side panel doors melt in heat and can cause serious damage to passengers in in an accident. I live in Florida and have complained about this for 3 years and continue to get the run around and placed on waiting list for several years.
Takata recall I have got recall letter last year about sticky dashboard I am still waiting on the company to call me or sent out another recall letter when the parts come in. My dashboard Is getting real bad. I am wiping down with soap and water. It getting a reflector to my window when the sun Is hitting right at it. Please respond. Approximately 2 years ago my entire dash board and side panels started to melt. I have contacted Lexus and they continue to say they are waiting on the manufacturer for parts. I live in marrero Louisiana with extremely high humidity and temperatures. This has been a safety hazard. When the sun hits my windshield, the glare from hitting the melted dash completely blinds me. I have to lean to the right side just to see out of my windshield. It is melted to the point of it being untouchable without getting sticky glue on your hands. Anything that rubs against the side door panels creates grooves and marks because it's like clay. Now theres a recall with the takata inflators in the front passenger airbag which really concerns me because its affected by high temperatures and humidity causes degrading of the part. Since my dash board is completely melted to the consistency of hot glue, I can't imagine that helps with my airbag situation either. I have been contacting Lexus for the past 2 years with no luck. If I should have an accident due to the dash glare, I will expect to have the production company held accountable. Any help you can offer with getting this message across to anyone at this point would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The dashboard has a sticky film. It also has become reflective resulting in difficulty seeing out of the windshield thus making driving dangerous in bright, sunny weather. It has been this way for a couple of years, but recently, the dash has become more reflective.
My dashboard is melting. It's melting so bad this is safety issue in my opinion. When sun is shining outside around noon, reflection from melted dashboard is so bad on windshield, you can't even see it. If this leads to an accident, I'll surely sue Lexus for this.
Vsc light, check engine light, traction control light all came on at the same time. PO303 cylinder 3 misfire detected. Have saw online many people complaining of the same problem. Engine is shaky during idle or shaky when its cold. Previous owned a 2009 Lexus IS250 and had the same problem. Heard of some people saying Lexus dealers took cars in and had problem fixed as recall. Not finding any recalls for my car. My mechanic says its a good running car, but something doesn't feel right.
