Purchased the 2007 Lexus Is 250 used in March, 2014. Within a couple of weeks, noticed the dashboard and interior door panels get very shiny and sticky (I.e. melting) when it is hot outside and the interior car temperature rises.

The dash board started melting during the summer. I approached Lexus while I had extended warranty and they advised they were not able to do anything about it. Would like to know if there is something that can be done to have this replaced.

On or about August 2012, I began to notice that my dash board was sticky. I attempted to clean it but that did not solve the problem. It kept getting worse and worse. It seems like the inside of my car Is melting. The dashboard and the black paneling on the doors Is melting. When driving in direct sunlight, it Is difficult to see out of the front windshield.

I have a 2007 Lexus Is 250. I've had it for 7 years now and love everything about it. But about 2-3 years ago, the vinyl interior starting getting sticky. It's gotten worse that if you touch it the color comes off on your fingers. I have a big shiny area on the dashboard which reflects on the front windshield and makes visibility difficult. I know there's others here in South Florida with the same issue, that have gone to Lexus and have been told they have to pay to replace it, that it's not covered.

I have a 2007 Lexus IS250 in which the dashboard and side door molding are melting causing the rubber to come off the dashboard. There has been numerous complaints from Lexus owners that they are having the same issue. Investigator reporter for channel 6 in miami has file a complaint agains Toyota and Lexus to make this a mandatory recall to fix this items, Toyota is aware but they do not want to replace the dashboards unless we pay $900 for the repairs. If they know there is an issue they need to fix it instead of charging the consumer for there mistake.

I notice my car dashboard has been melting for about 2-3 years now, it is now creating a obstruction while driving in the daytime because it causes a glare on the windshield. It's literally a sticky mess, the dye in the dashboard if touched transfers on the fabric in car. I brought it to the attention of the dealership, the only I option have is to change the entire dashboard at my cost. Through my research there are many cars on the road with this issue. I appreciate your attention in this very serious matter.

Took car to dealership due to shiny and sticky dashboard. Was told this Is a known problem but will not repair under good will since warranty has passed. Dashboard Is extremely sticky, will this cause air bag problems during an accident? the shiny surface also reflects and makes driving difficult in sunlight.

The dash and door sills on the car are melting and sticky. You can not get in and out of the car without leaving gouges in the interior. Hands stick to everything and the problem only gets worse. The car is becoming unusable and is defective.

The dashboard is sticky, chipping and melting resulting in a blinding glare on the driver side wind shield. The glare reduces and hinders visibility and it has become a safety concern and hazard. The dash and door panel are so soft that anytime I bump it with my nail or ring, a chunk of the dash comes out. This melting is a potential hazard for the function of the air bags.

I noticed the dash board getting shiny with a sticky feel and it continued to grow in density over months until about 6 months ago when the car wash company I use, told me they have been seeing a lot of that in Lexus and Toyota models. In essence, my dashboard Is melting and the glare from the dashboard/windshield Is increasing which Is affecting my visibility when driving. Lexus said that since my car Is out of warranty and there Is no official recall yet, there Is nothing that they can do except charge me $1500 to replace the dashboard. They acknowledged they are beginning to see more frequent cases of this.

I was driving South in my car during the middle of the day, and the glare from my dashboard was so bad I wasn't able to see a car appx 30 feet in front of me. There was no accident, but due to Lexus using defective materials for their dashboard, it has melted and become shiny enough to be a real danger as the glare fully impedes view while driving in sunlight. As the passenger airbag is also contained in the dash, I have heard of a danger of it being triggered as well due to this issue. I contacted both Lexus customer support as well as my local Lexus dealership. I found online that there was purportedly a service bulletin that was issued to by Lexus (I obtained a copy online) to dealers in 2011 informing them of the material problem and availability of replacement parts (affected both dash and door panels), but bulletin this was not communicated to owners (I.e. no recall), so I was never made aware and was out of warranty at the time the bulletin was issued as it was only effective 48 months from in-service date even though my model year was included in the affected vehicles. The most they were willing to cover was 50% of the replacement part cost. My responsibility would have been $2800 to fully re-mediate the issues (dash and doors), which I declined as I feel Lexus should be fully accountable as the problem is admittedly due to faulty material used in the manufacture of certain years/vins of their vehicles. This also impacts my resale value even though that alone is not safety-related, it should be considered as well. I took cell phone video of the glare from my dash that impeded view and have that available if needed.

Black dashboard of vehicle Is "melting" causing a glare on the windshield for the driver. This Is a safety concern as your vision of the road and surroundings are compromised. The inside door panels of the vehicle are also made from the same material as the dashboard. From a cosmetic standpoint the dashboard and door panels cannot be touched without leaving a mark or print behind. I have reached out to the local treasure coast Lexus dealership and the Lexus customer service line twice to be told that I am responsible as the owner to repair. Because I did not purchase their warranty, I am out of luck. Lexus Is negligent for the materials used in production for this vehicle. Will it take a vehicle accident before they take action for their customers? I hope not.

The dash console Is soft and sticky. It's literally melting and mars very easy. Shiny and reflective during the hot sunny days. With a hard press, it will retains finger prints. This Is a defective part on the manufacture. Contacted arrowhead Lexus in glendale about the problem and they blame on detailing materials such as cleaners and leather protectant breaking down causing the dash to be sticky and melting. This Is complete false and inaccurate because I personally wash and clean my car and only used microfiber and warm water to clean the interior. Lexus should look into this problem and fix it the right way rather than blaming the customer who has been loyal and owns 3 Lexus so far. I currently own a 2007 Lexus GX470 and a 2007 Lexus IS350. I do not have the problem with my gx. It's the IS350 dash that has the dash problem.

Black dashboard and inside door panels are melting on my 2007 Lexus Is 250. While driving, the sun will glare off of the melting dashboard compromising viability to the driver. If you touch the dashboard, an imprint Is left. Valet services are unable to place tickets, or any other material for that matter, on the dashboard because it will stick to the dashboard and leave residue. The same material Is used for the door panels. As you open the car door from the inside of the vehicle, the black material gets caught under male and female fingernails, gouging the material. I believe this Is a manufacturing defect. This Is not a result of owner neglect. On a side note; this vehicle has lived in many environments - Colorado (dry climate), Texas (dry climate), and Florida (moist and warm climate). Lexus customer service has been contacted and does not take responsibility for the defect. If I want it fixed, Lexus states that it Is my financial responsibility to replace. If cosmetics and quality are not important to Lexus, safety should be!

A few months after I purchased this car back in 2011, I started to notice that the dashboard and front door panels started to deteriorate; literally looked like they were melting. It feels very sticky, it gets scratched easily from the slightest touch, but the main thing is the dash, it looks so shiny it creates a horrible glare that reflects on the windshield and makes the visibility very difficult and it just gets worse and worse with time. I have complained several times with the dealership, they say they will only cover the repair partially but still the amount that would come out of my pocket is significantly high. According to what I have researched, Lexus released a service bulletin about this issue with the sticky/shiny dash and door panels. However, the extended warranty on my car would not cover the repair/replacement of the parts. I just hope they are aware that this goes beyond of being only a "cosmetic" problem, because just the glare on the windshield itself can become a significant driving hazard.

After purchasing car, I noticed door panels seemed to be melting & real smooshy when you touch it. I told dealership & they just wanted to patch it so I got a second opinion from upholstery shop & they said its really nothing they can do but patch it because its molded!! I would like to know what can be done to get a recall initiated so this can be fixed before it gets worse.
