I have a 2006 Lexus when I checked the VIN it shows a recall for the air bag but online also shows if the car is 10 years older the repairs will have to be made by the owner meaning I have to pay for it..this is a safety issue another thing I notice is the interior door panel is sweating something and gets hazy and wet looking when my nail hits it it leaves a mark. I normally have kids in the car the air bags is a big problem if not fixed soon and it hits 2017 I will have to pay for repairs.. the recall was sometime this year please see the attachment if not fixed I would have to trade it in for safety

Takata recall I have yet to have my airbag replaced it has been 6 months since the letter notification was sent out. I no longer feel safe driving the car with the possibility of the air bag going off during a collision and sending shrapnel in any direction. Dash board recall I have been on the wait list for almost 2 years and my dash board has yet to be replaced. The dash board has been getting worse every month. The dash board has become so shiny its almost impossible to drive the car on sunny days.
Takata inflators - cannot use car whenever I have more than 3 passengers. No solution provided after the recall alert received for 2 months. No news about when the repair can be done.
We had our Lexus smogged and the airbag light was on when we picked it up. We took it to the Lexus dealer and they said it is the wiring harness. $3500 to repair. This is not a component that is supposed to fail, so Lexus should be responsible for the fix.

After contacting the dealer and the manufacturer on multiple occasions, the contact was informed that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were still not available and no estimated time for receiving the parts could be given. I received a Lexus safety recall notice on 7/18/16 regarding the takata front passenger airbag inflator (NHTSA recall no. 16V-340). The propellant in these inflators may degrade after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity and fluctuating high temperatures. Degraded propellant can cause inflator rupture during airbag deployment. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, striking the vehicle occupants and result in serious injury or death. My car is used to Transport my family, which includes my 6 month old son. We do not feel safe driving my car and would like to receive a loaner until the airbag parts have been replaced. Also, we live in an area where temperatures reach up to 100 degrees in the summer months, which may increase the risk of the propellant in these inflators to degrade.
Is 250 dash has melted and creates harsh glare and reflects into the windshield blocking the view out the front (see the attached picture in which the gooey surface of the dash is blocking the view of other vehicles on the road) when driving East or West towards the sun making it dangerous to drive. The problem is worst on hot days when the dash becomes more tacky, gooey, and reflective. The dash also seems to off gas and create a haze that builds on the windshield. Toyota is replacing some off the dashes and interiors through a "warranty enhancement" but will not replace mine because the vehicle has been in a wreck, had an insurance claim, and been repaired. This voids their "enhancement". the issue is present on many Lexus vehicles, though and can be a hazard. They will not fix my vehicle because this issue is not yet a recall. I am worried about not being able to see out of the vehicle well.
L-sb-0167-08 the SRS airbag light Is on for awhile. This Is a well known defect and issue with these vehicle. A faulty wire harness. There Is tsb but it Is only covered under warranty. I find it surprising that this Is not considered a safety recall given the potential harm and risk of the airbag not deploying due to a faulty harness.
Airbag indicator on dash randomly comes on then goes off. This has been happening since 2009. The cause is a defective wiring harness from the manufacturer effecting 2006 to 2008 vehicles, which when in a failed state disables the airbag system entirely.
2006 Lexus Is 250. Consumer writes in regards to air bag light malfunction. The consumer stated the air bag light could come on and go off. The dealer informed the consumer they would not be able to diagnose the problem, until the light stayed on constantly. The consumer was charged $3100 to fix the issue.
Airbag indicator on dash randomly comes on then goes off. This happened again most recently on 10-20-15. Apparently this is due to a defective wiring harness from the manufacturer effecting 2006 to 2008 vehicles, which when in a failed state disables the airbag system entirely......updated 12/07/15 contact noticed airbag light would intermittently illuminate on the instrument panel for the last 5 yrs or so. Updated 4/24/18 updated 05/17/18
I drove my car to work with no abnormal lights on the dash. After working 7 hours I returned to my car and started it after a few seconds I looked up to notice the airbag light was illuminated. I turned the car off waited a few seconds and started it again and the light is still on. I have read that this is a common issue with the airbag wiring harness and can cost up to $3500 to repair.
I noticed my airbag light was on while driving. Restarting the car seemed to solve the issue at first, days went by and I never saw the light again. Few days later light was on again. I had to restart the car 4 times before it went off. So I took it to the dealer and asked to have a look at it. They told me that the wire harness was bad and they are aware of this issue is Lexus is models. They have a tsb L-sb-0167-08 assigned to this. The solution to fix this is to replace the whole harness which will cost upwards of $3500 and apparently this is caused due to the restraint on the harness and it automatically disables the deployment of the airbags. This is a major safety issue which should be addressed by Lexus corporate and a safety recall should be applicable to this hazard. This is not regular wear and tear and requires immediate attention to all Lexus is model vehicle owners.
