A week ago I started hearing a clunking noise in the steering column. It would also clunk near the front left wheel when I turned steering wheel. I was told I need to replace the rack and pinion steering, tie rods, and steering shaft. This is a very expensive repair. My 2010 HS250h only has 98,000 miles. I have never-ever had to replace the rack and pinion steering in any car! (Nor has anyone I know.) I believe this is a serious safety issue, especially since there were no warning lights to alert me of this problem. I am totally shocked that this would happen in a LEXUS! There clearly must be a defect in the car. (Like there was with the brake booster pump that I had to replace a year ago.) Lexus needs to step up, acknowledge the defect, and reimburse.

On 8/16/19, I was leaving for work, and went to reverse my vehicle out of garage, down inclined driveway, found out that the brakes were completely out accompanied by warning beeping rapidly. The power steering also locked up. I was able to push emergency brake, which did stop the vehicle, I put in car in drive and went forward into garage and pushed/locked emergency brake again to store vehicle in garage on flat surface. Car was towed to local Toyota (Lexus certified) service shop. Diagnostic showed that ABS master cylinder needed repair, once repaired they then tell me the booster pump also needed repair. A simple google search revealed that in 2013 these exact parts were recalled on this same year/make/model however my VIN was excluded from this recall. It is believed that these parts are defected and should have been included in this recall initially. It simply cannot be a coincidence that these parts for the 2010 Lexus 250 H were identified as defective, along with 7 other recalls for my VIN alone. The previous day I had taken a trip 2 hours away, and back home. Had I been driving when this happened the results could have been deadly.
