2010 Lexus gx 460 staling after stopping. After pulling on to main road, just barely into traffic, the car will maybe move 5mph for aprox 3-4 sec. I have the accelerator floorboarded and then the car zooms rapidly. This has happened a few times, I called Lexus Corp and they said they didn't know of any other problem similar. I barely avoided 1 wreck the first timethis happened to me. I was hoping it was just a freak occurrence. Of course, after a few occurrences I knew there was a real problem and Lexus was not telling the truth. My phone call was in August 2010. The final situation occurred when I pulled out in a road construction site near my house. I waited for what I thought was a safe time to enter traffic, as it is a very busy highway. After entering the highway, my car stalled and a semi was coming right at me. I had no recourse, but to wait for power. Just in the knick of time- my car went zoom-very fast.. a wreck was averted, but barely. This car is dangerous. I was almost killed. Lexus says, they think they have a fix. Really. I am absolutely terrified after 2 very close calls, one of which would have killed me. I want a real fix. I am reporting this in hopes that you will demand Lexus take this car off the road until it is really fixed. No one should be killed, especially when the problem is well know.

GX 460

I recently purchased a 2010 Lexus gx 460 for my wife. I purchased it brand new at stevenson Lexus in Colorado. About 2 weeks ago our car developed a hesitation when accelerating from a stop. When you come to a complete stop and then try to accelerate, the car moves several feet, under idle, then there is no power and you are stuck in the road. The hesitation/stall lasts for 2-5 seconds. My wife and I have narrowly avoided several accidents. I took the car into larry H. miller Lexus in murray, Utah on Monday to have the car repaired. I spoke with adam campbell the assistant service manager. He said they were very familiar with the problem, it is a know problem to the model, they have several customers with the same problem, Lexus acknowledges that it is a problem but they do not have a fix. They said any fix is a couple of months away at the earliest. They offered a loaner car until my was fixed if I wanted but it is smaller and is not tow capable. They also indicated that they had at least one other customer that left their vehicle at the dealership and refused to drive it until it was repaired. I contacted Lexus national and they indicated they were working on a voluntary service campaign (no recall) but nothing was available at this time. They said they felt the car was safe to continue driving. I disagree and larry miller Lexus supports that decision. The vehicle is now at the dealership. My car is three months old and has 6000 miles on it. It is covered by full factory warranty but we have parked it due to the serious danger it poses. Lexus needs to recall these vehicles immediately please let me know if you can be of assistance.

  • 2,800 miles
The contact owns a 2010 Lexus GX460 SUV. The cruise control was activated while the contact was driving up a sight incline at approximately 62 mph. An unexpected increase of acceleration occurred. The engine began to rev excessively high and the rmps increased to 4,300. The cruise control was deactivated with the brake pedal engaged. The vehicle was able to come to a stop. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician informed that the vehicle required further inspection and would analyze the data. The vehicle remained at the dealer at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 2,800. The consumer stated there was a vibration in the steering wheel and the emergency brake would not hold, it would go down to the floor. Also, when trying to pass another vehicle, the vehicle hesitated. Updated 10/12/10
