This was an unintended acceleration with non functional braking of a Lexus GS 350. This occured on December 18 around 8:00 AM. The driver noticed an orange triangular light in the dash while travelling slowly through a neighborhood less than a mile from the incident. While approaching a lighted intersection, the car suddenly accelerated when the brake pedal was depressed. The brake pedal was stiff and did not work. The driver tried to avoid another vehicle by veering right. The car hit a curb, travelled over a small hill and ended up in a parking lot after the ensuing damage disabled the car. The driver was able to escape from the drivers door before a fire erupted on the drivers side of the engine bay. The driver's safety and any other cars or persons in the vicinity were obviously put at grave risk.
Rear brakes were sticking and squeaking. Dealer inspected and found rear caliper slides seized causing rear brake pads to get worn to 0 mm. Car only has 12K miles. When asked why, was told, because you don't drive enough miles per year.
Safety recall sent May 22 2014 regarding brake pedal load sensing switch. After several calls and attempted appointments Lexus states they do not have the part to fix the defective device and I need to wait until part is available. Currently 8 months and counting without a fix in place.
Continued problem with the brakes loud growling noise when light foot pressure is applied or let up and the car is stopped. Was informed by the dealer that is normal for all new Lexus models. It appears to me that the dealer does not want to address the problem.

On 8/22/13, I was driving on the street about 30 miles per hour. The car was braked and locked up all by it self. My foot was on the accelerator at the time and not on the brake. The brake light lite up on the dash board and the I press the accelerator but the car would not move. When I put my foot on the brake paddle, the car would go until it hit about 10 miles per hour then locked up again. I had it towed to the Lexus service center around 10 pm. The service center was closed but the brake unlocked by itself. I drove home and drive to the Lexus dealer next day. Lexus service drove the car over 100 miles and can not find the problem. On 9/5/2913 around 8:30 pm, the car locked up again. Next day, the car was working ok. 9/7/13 around 11:30 am, I was driving 65 mph on the 605 freeway. The brake locked up again. I was almost rear ended. Tow to cerritos Lexus dealer, they call me and could no find any problem. They insisted the car is safe. 9/12/13, the car locked up again on the way home.
