I have an AUL warranty that will cover this fix which is expected to be roughly $2000,audio head unit cooling fan rattles randomly, bad noise. They have to tear into the dash and pull out the defective audio unit and replace it. Most of the cost is labor - this is all due to a $10 fan with a defective bearing. The Clublexus forums mention this often so it is a genuine manufacturing defect affecting a lot of people and not just my bad luck on an individual car. Otherwise I absolutely adore the car. The previous owner may have sold it to get out from under this problem. Fortunately for me I bought a warranty which the local Lexus dealer told me is valid.
I have no radio or audio, I checked fuses/ all good. Went to a contact I have from Lexus and he said Lexus doesn't fix it, they charge $169 for a service charge to tell you the fuses are fine and then tell you it'll be $2600 for a new receiver with no guarantee that's the problem. If that doesn't fix the problem they'll charge me for the next part et cetera until it's fixed. No thanks...I'm looking for an alternative...
