This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While driving on a freeway at approx 65 mph I had a blowout. The tire tread was shredded and separated from the tire, just as in the SUV tires that are being recalled by Firestone. I brought the tire to a Firestone/Bridgestone dealer for replacement and they determined that the tire was not defective. They said I had probably run over a nail or piece of glass. I have never before seen a puncture cause a tire to shred the way this one did. In light of the current Firestone recall, I urge you to force Firestone/Bridgestone to expand the investigation and scope of this recall. If possible and warranted, I would like to have my tires replaced. At the very least. I would like to be reimbursed for the one tire that I had to replace myself.( dot number: Elf1jce498 tire size: P215/60/R1 )
