Takata recall: Lexus has been unable to repair our passenger-side airbag in a reasonable time from the May 3, 2016, amendment to the November 3, 2015, consent order requiring the replacement of said airbag.
"takata recall" - Lexus has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time. They have known about this for months and sent a letter in July saying "in the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, striking the vehicle occupants, and result in serious injury or death." The local dealer has no idea when the replacement of the airbag inflator or the airbag assembly will be available. Until the replacement is made, the car cannot be driven with someone in the passenger seat. This creates a huge hardship and greatly reduces the ability to use the car. Since Lexus has know about this for a long time, it is unacceptable to not promptly remedy the defect or even give a time range when the remedy might be completed.

Apparently, Lexus mailed a recall notice to my home address sometime in June (the letter does not have a date that it was issued) about the takata passenger airbag problem. However, I did not know about the recall notice until after I made a long trip with my sister from atlanta, ga to melbourne, fl in mid June 2016. Fortunately my sister and I were not in an accident during that trip, but if I had known about the recall beforehand, I would not have used the car for the trip. Lexus needs to do a better job of notifying their customers of serious problems that could result in major injury or death. I am angry that my husband and I cannot make full use of this car and that Lexus is not fixing this problem...they told us to wait another 6 months. Why should I have to continue making car payments on a vehicle that is defective and dangerous. Shame on the car manufacturers Lexus (Toyota) and many others who knew that takata air bags were defective and yet still installed them in their cars in the name of saving dollars. Disgusting!

Takata recall. Lexus has distributed an "interim notice" of this recall that advises owners not to operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. The letter states Lexus is "taking this action to ensure your safety". in reality, the notice is an obvious attempt to protect Lexus from any liability. This notice was sent three months ago, and yet there is no remedy available. The recommended solution is impractical for most families. The question is how long should consumers consider is a "reasonable" time for this problem to be corrected. The issue essentially prevents an owner from honestly trading, selling, or otherwise disposing of the vehicle while the problem exists. I also lease another Lexus vehicle and was told by Lexus that I could drive that one while we waited for the recall to be resolved. That adds miles to my lease obligation that were not planned for. Lexus indicated they would provide alternate transportation, but I have received no confirmation of that offer. The vehicle that I purchased is not usable through no fault of mine, and it does not appear there is any urgency by Lexus to correct the fault since the liability has been covered by an "interim notice". that is the basis of my complaint.
Takata recall. We were notified of the takata airbag recall affecting our 2010 Lexus ES 350 but were told that there is no remedy at this time. We were also told to not have passengers ride in the front seat. This is an unacceptable response as we are concerned about the drivers safety and the car is effectively a 3 passenger vehicle limiting our ability to carpool.
