I bought my car brand new on June 22, 2019. In July 2021, I noticed a moldy smell in the car and waited a few weeks to take it to the dealer, mileage was 11,055. When I picked up the car, I was told by the service advisor that the cabin filter was replaced and the A/C refresh was done and the evaporator box was sanitized. It cost me $257.45 as I was told the extended warranty didn't cover it. (The cabin filter was replaced at the 10,000 checkup, I was told that I still had to pay for the replacement.) I was also told that I should hang a Damp Rid in the car to absorb the smell and whenever I was a few minutes from my destination, I should turn on the recirculating air button to keep the smell from recurring.

It is now three weeks later and the Damp Rid bag had 1" of water in it so I changed it. The moldy smell is still there. From what I've read online, it is a problem with the evaporator. I will be going back to the dealer and point this out to the service advisor and refuse to pay for anything.
