There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the gear shifter needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.
The contact owned a 2017 Land Rover Range rover sport. While driving various speeds, the vehicle unintentionally shut off without warning. As a result, the contact's vehicle crashed into another vehicle and a guardrail. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred three times prior to the crash; however, the vehicle turned back on and was functioning normally. The passenger side air bags deployed. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a local vehicle holding yard and then towed to Land Rover Edison (920 us-1, Edison, NJ 08817, (732) 205-9000) where the contact stated that they downloaded the brain with no further assistance.
