This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The frame of the vehicle is rusting out. There are thousands of these trucks on the road with this issue. Land Rover used inferior metals and rust protection. The safety of the vehicle in a crash is severely compromised.
In my 2000 Land Rover discovery 2, as apparently in many others, from time to time, usually after applying the brakes in a routine stop, an alarm chimes and the lights on the dash illuminate showing that the anti-lock braking system is no longer working as well as the hill descent control and traction control system. This is such a common failure that just about every discovery 2 owner knows it by its nickname, the three amigos! clearly a failure in the ABS is serious, especially if it results in a valve locking up and disabling the brakes as has possibly happened. The other two functions relate to use in low traction environments, such as snow, and are potentially hazardous as well. I believe this should be a recall issue. This happens every time I drive my discovery, including today (the date I listed below).
