I was just leaving home in the morning, when about 5 miles away the check engine light went on. I stopped the vehicle and noticed the RPM is over 1,250 in drive when it should be lower than 800 RPMs. The brake pedal has to be pushed really hard to avoid vehicle to start moving on its own. I brought the vehicle to the dealer where they diagnosed (code p0456 - evap small leak). The tech advised me to be careful to close the gas cap properly when adding gas. Since then it has happened four times and each time I take the vehicle back to the Kia they just reset the check engine light and tell me that can't find or recreate the problem.
Rough idling started at 5,500 miles on the engine. Correct 89 Octane high quality gas was used through its whole life time. The rough idles (at all temperatures) got worse at 6,000 miles. I took it into the dealership. They considered this a "customer convenience" repair, and told me it was not under the warranty. $150 repair isn't horrible, but seems pretty fishy and dodgy on a 2017 under warranty. My problem is fixed, but I had to put money into it.
