My husband noticed my oil was low in June. He's been monitoring it since. We mentioned the issue several times to the local dealership. In the meantime, he's been putting a quart of oil in the car every other week or so.

Dealership initially told us it needed a new oil pan ($600). My husband told them a leak would be noticeable and we have not had any signs - no oil in the driveway, no odd smells or signs it's burning off. We had a consumption test performed at the dealership - two weeks, 1,000 miles, 2.5 quarts of oil gone.

I contacted Kia Corporate. They said the dealership was now recommending a $4500 new engine. My 2014 Kia Sportage isn't covered under any oil or engine service campaigns and the warranty is expired.
