Occasionally the Kia Soul does not start, but moments later the car starts fine. One time at roughly 40 mph, the car died while at speed. Everything went dead the check engine light came on and the car drifted silently to the side of the road. Moments later the car started just fine and the engine light went off and I continued on with my journey. Recently the car broke down at a gas station for 20 minutes then started up again as if nothing has happened. I took it to the dealer. Dealer said I had a shorted out battery but the alternator was fine. I believe this problem to be the symptom of a larger electrical problem. Reason being, even with a dead battery the car should still operate while driving. It might not start again, but never have I heard of a bad battery taking out a car at speed. Dealer was very tight lipped and pretended that they had never heard of any electrical issues with the Kia Soul and insisted my battery had a short in it. Biggest recall in Kia history is electrical related and I believe my car should be recalled before it catches fire. I believe this is how all the Kia car fires start, something isn't right in the electrics.
