In July I noticed my headlights starting to flicker at first when using my turn signals, then just at random they would turn completely off and back on. Then my car died after leaving the switch on where they should have automatically shut off. I had to start manually turning them off. I have had the battery tested and the alternator tested. To make the situation worse, my dealership refuses to do warranty work on Kia now and is sending me to a dealership 16 miles from my home, and they can't get me in till 1.5 weeks from now. This has been going on for over a month. I checked fuses etc myself. All is well. There is a flipping demon in my electrical system. My car has now randomly died several times and I am carrying around my jump box praying to which ever god will listen that it will start for the day. I am not looking forward to what Kia drums up as the problem, or even worse when they try to come back and tell me there isn't one!!!

Soul Plus 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,400 miles

I bought my 2014 Kia Soul brand new with only 26 miles on it on July 9, 2014. Yesterday, after exactly 2 years 3 months, the car would not start. It has just over 7,400 miles on it. I got a jump start and made it home. I shut off the engine and tried to start it again later, and it did not. I called KIA, and they said that they will not cover it b/c it's over the 2-year battery warranty. That's really annoying! Why should a car battery last only 2 years or so! I have never left the lights on or anything to warrant the car battery going dead, and the car is always garaged.

Anyway, I had to buy a new battery myself from a local auto shop because KIA also told me that they would CHARGE me to do a diagnostic on the car to make sure that it was the battery, so I opted out since that doesn't seem right. My local auto shop did a free diagnostic, told me that it was the battery, and replaced the battery.

I think KIA is dropping the ball on this one, and it's quite upsetting.
