I called support about all of my issues. They referred me to a dealer for diagnosis. Dealer was very kind. I am waiting to hear from them if Kia customer assistance program might help with 50-50 split on engine replacement but with all the other stuff that is wrong with it, I can't imagine putting $3,000 or more into it will fix it.

So I guess I will take my licks, try to get a $1000 for it and go on. I had hoped it might be worth at lease $4,000-$5,000 at this point as a trade in. I took really good care of it. Guess not. Very very disappointed. Only 82,000 miles and basically a worthless vehicle at this point.

Yes, my 2013 kia soul had engine problems so I took it to have a tune up done. Then 3 weeks later on Thanksgiving Day was going to dinner and it gets to knocking so bad that I stopped on the Interstate and called a tow truck. I had them take it to the nearest dealership. The next Monday I was told that I needed a new engine that my lower differential was full of metal shavings So they found me an engine to replace mine. Gave me a 12,000 mile warranty on it at a cost of $4100 counting the labor. Then a few months later they send out a letter for a recall on the catalytic converters with a list of all the same signs my engine had I was told I would be receiving a refund for the work that I had done so after a few months I received a letter that because the converters were not inspected now I will not be getting a refund. Just wondering if anyone else had came across this same situation?

Recall due to lack of software to trigger DTC of overheating catalytic converter leading to engine failure.. Recall installs new software, supposedly replaces catalytic converter and engine if damaged subsequent to lack of DTC.

Dealer says if overheated catalytic converter code not present, will not replace engine. Will charge for computer hook up and diagnosis despite what recall is for. If the catalytic converter trouble code not present (it isn’t because that is what the recall is for) consumer is out of luck and all repairs are his problem.

Filed complaint with Kia via their website. Their customer assistance number does not work, keeps flipping you from one unwanted automated response to another.

DO NOT LET THEM SNOW YOU WITH TECHNICAL BS. KIA AND DEALERS ARE DUCKING THE EXPENSE OF THEIR DESIGN FAILURE.

The engine started to tick extremely loudly. I took it to Kia and they refused to fix the problem. This is a well documented problem with Kia Soul. Terrible company to deal with.

I never really had an issue with Kia until now...Driving to my second job and all of a sudden the car started making this horrible loud knocking or tapping noise and it moved slower than initially. I spoke with warranty department, but of course all my warranties expired, some by just a little bit, but the most disturbing thing was no one from Kia even bothered to tell me the car has been noted for having such problems, but instead they made it seem like it was my issue and just its time to knock out! They need to recall the souls and fix the issue.

The engine started ticking so we hauled it to Kia of Thornton Rd. There service dept asked for a lifetime of the car documentation of oil changes. We provided that and the oil changes were to their specs. They were rude and also upon dealing with corporate Kia they had the same attitude as Dionte and Chris of Thornton rd Kia. In the end Julie Miller (case worker) called and said Kia isn't going to warranty the engine due to lack of lubrication, however we provided the lifetime documentation of the car. I asked to speak with who made the final descision on the warranty work and was told I could not speak to them due to they are a closed group to the public....During this process I was told by Chis the service manager at Kia of Thornton Rd and his employee Dionte I needed to get my car off there lot and have it towed to Anniston, Al the Kia dealer we bought the car from. I asked was Kia not supported by all Kia dealers and they said no because they did not know me. I still can not believe how we were treated by Kia and the employee's they support!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BE INVOLVED IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM WITH KIA!!!
