This is a typical buy off by a car company. Kia is having major electrical problems with the light systems in all their lowcost models. This has persisted for a decade with Kia slithering out of responsibility and lying about the cause. They KNOW the fuse boxes in their cars are failing as the fuses and EXPENSIVE LIGHTS continue to burn out in days or less. A mechanic friend told my wife Kia charges $600.00 for the fuse box plus install. He can do it for $300.00.

My question is, why hasn't there been a recall for this serious safety problem? The cars stall on the highway, rendering most systems powerless to control the vehicle. The lights go out on people leaving them stranded on the side of the road with huge towing bills. The interior lights are a joke and never work. All the while Kia keeps putting the same faulty boxes back in the cars to fail again and again. Don't tell me Kia isn't buying their way out of a recall. If a gas pedal is dangerous, how about a dead car on the road at 70 MPH with no lights on? We were actually considering another Kia until this problem occurred.

I have been a car guy, car restoration guy and generally good mechanic all my life. There is one issue I will not restore a car over. ELECTRICAL. It is the hardest to diagnose and most costly to repair. Electrical is like the Chinese thousand needle torture. It drains your bank account one stick at a time, over and over. It nearly bankrupted Jaguar in the 70's when they refused to pay Bosch for the increase of copper in the commodity market. So Bosch reduced the size of the wire in Jaguar's looms to what they were buying in copper as a commodity. Ford did the same, by the way. Time for a recall Kia, or own up and take care of this mess.
