- DEALER PARTS & SERVICE MANAGER MEMO (SC136): ATTENTION: ALL DEALER PARTS AND SERVICE MANAGERS, KIA MOTORS AMERICA, INC. IS CONDUCTING AN EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN TO UPGRADE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT (TCU) IN SIXTY (60) 2017 MY SORENTO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 3.3L GDI V6 ENGINE, PRODUCED ON MAY 10, 2016. KIA HAS DETERMINED THAT THERE IS A TCU ROM ID MISMATCH WHICH MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RELEASE AIR POLLUTANTS WHICH EXCEED FEDERAL AND/OR CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS STANDARDS. NOTE: WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE VEHICLE CURRENTLY IN DEALER STOCK, THE REMAINING 59 VINS HAVE BEEN SOLD AS FLEET VEHICLES ASSIGNED TO VARIOUS RENTAL CAR COMPANIES, SOME OF WHICH WILL BE AUTHORIZED TO PERFORM THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE.
