Shortly after buying the Kia in November of 2017 it developed a problem where the steering wheel would stick when driving down the highway. It seems to get stuck either to the left or right of the center of the steering wheel. It takes a little extra effort to move the wheel past these sticking points and it becomes more difficult the faster the car travels. At highway speeds this is quite troublesome and dangerous as the problem is amplified and with living in a state that gets lots of snow and ice it's very dangerous. I do a lot of highway travel to and from work. This seems to be a constant problem and is now even affecting town travel. If you go over 25 mph this problem occurs. I have had many incidents that have caused me to almost get in an accident. We don't ever like to take my SUV on trips anymore. Heck I don't even like to drive it to work!
I have been to the dealer where I bought the car when it first started happening but they found nothing. A technician told me that I probably need to get used to the electric power steering. It's been over a year now and it's worse than ever. I think they know something is up and don't want to admit it. Is it going to take someone getting killed in an accident for someone at Kia to do something! I'll be taking my car back in and they will fix it or I'm going to make the buy it back!
This is not my first Kia, I love Kia but it will be my last if it's going to put my life, my family or friends lives or anyone on the roads lives at risk!
*SIDE NOTE: My dad thinks it might be that the little bar that locks your steering wheel when you turn the car off isn't descending all the way and that's why it sticks a little to the right and a little to the left because it can't go in the middle and you are jumping what's sticking up every time you try and adjust your steering.
