Before Kia replaced the engine (thanks to a lawsuit), the car was using oil. It used it so badly that I had the oil changed, drove 3 hours, and had to add oil. After the engine replacement, all seemed well, but a check engine light came on and apparently, my catalytic converter(s) were stopped up. My local mechanic told me there were 3 things that could cause that and guess what one was - that's right - OIL USAGE! From what he's saying, the front cat. converter ($1200) has gunk breaking loose and is now stopping up the new rear cat. converter. I called Kia and all they say to do is to take it to a Kia Service Center, pay the $250 to have it looked at and the best I can hope for is 50% "good will" help if anything at all. It was Kia's crappy engine that started this mess in the first place. They should have to fix it! This Sorento is a piece of __!
