Bought my 2014 Kia Sorento ex at a dealership with 98000.00 miles payments are over 500 a month plus ins and I only got to drive my car for 18 months before my car overheated and sprayed coolant out the over flow tank and it went into limp mode, had to have it towed at that time it was not covered under any warranty so it sat so I could save up to try to repair. This past May I got the manufacturer limited extended warranty in the mail so I had it towed to the dealership it's been there for over 4 months. I get the run around now it's tech line that wants my service records on oil changes etc, from when I've read this is how Kia tries to get out of honoring that warranty.

I'm out thousands of dollars the past 4 months for a rental car the dealership told me the repairs qualify under the warranty so why is it taking 4 + months t repair, I don't think they have a engine to put in my car cause they are on backorder. I can't get a loaner vehicle, I have put out $9700.00 in car payments and insurance since it's been down this s BS. Kia should do what's right and fix their cotton engines or buy it back for what you bought it for, why do the consumers have to take it in the ass for kia's fuc- up? Haven't the consumers put enough out of pocket expenses already, the manufacturer should be held liable regardless. What does my oil changes have to do with the coolant leak from the faulty head bolts kia put I there edges? NOTHING.

Sorento 3.2L

The first indication of a problem was overheating. A check of coolant levels indicated low levels. Check of oil indicated low level (quart down). I remediated fluid levels. Took it to Dealer along with recall notices. Dealer indicated engine lower head bolts were lifting (stretching) when engine heated up. Bolts holes were stripped such that head gasket then permitted leakage across the barrier. Loss of coolant, additional heating worsening problem until the engine hot signal came in. No oil level sensor came ever indicated a problem.

No one rebuilds engines anymore apparently. Replacement engine for $9 G. I consider this a design flaw that resulted from the fluid levels not being annunciated; related to sensor failures upstream from engine head bolt issue...

Update from Aug 14, 2022: KIA dealership (Juban Crossing) indicated the vehicle was out of warranty. However, the oil pressure sensor recall indicated the recall was good to 150K miles... So - it's sort of an issue. The oil pressure sensor switch should have provided some indication of a problem. Likewise, there should have been some indication of a pressure drop across the coolant fluid levels giving indication of a leak / loss of pressure if the head gasket was lifting when the engine head bolts heated up and underwent linear expansion...
