My car alarm goes off nearly every night. I have taken it to a local garage and the man could not reproduce the problem. Cost $100, no fix.
I have resorted to disconnecting the battery each night before I go to bed. Not the way I want to continue. The weird thing is I recently took a trip and had no problems for two consecutive nights. I bring the car back home and it starts all over again. I looked at the door switches, hatch switch and hood switch. All look fine. No apparent damage. Any help would be appreciated.
Update from Dec 13, 2016: I think we found the culprit. Some time ago my insurance company sent me a chip (Drive Wise by Allstate) to insert into the diagnostic slot. Apparently it was working ... for Allstate.
I recently took the car into the dealership to find why the alarm was deploying in the middle of the night. They found no mechanical reason and pointed to the Drive Wise chip and suggested that might be the problem. I removed it and haven't had a false alarm since. NOTE it has only been 5 nights.
