CarComplaints.com Notes: Kia really changed the design of the Sorento in the 2011 model year. Instead of a truck-like body-on-frame more capable of offroad adventures, the newest Sorento is a unibody construction and is much more crossover than sport utility. The changes brought a whole slew of problems, including a frustrating problem where the door that won’t open. Is it too late to go back?

I DID A READ OUT ON THE VEHICLE AND IT CAME UP CAM SHAFT SENSOR. IT WAS REPLACED. STILL GOT THE SAME READING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE GARAGE AND THEY FOUND THE EXHAUST CRANKSHAFT SENSOR BROKEN IN PIECES AND MELTED. THEY GOT ALL PIECES OUT BUT 1 SO THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE HEAD IN ORDER TO PUSH THE PIECE OUT BEFORE IT COULD BE REPLACED. WHEN I ASKED THE MECHANIC HOW THIS COULD HAVE OCCURRED HE SIMPLY SAID, "WHO KNOWS.
Update from Nov 16, 2018: The vehicle has been back at the Dealer for 3 1/2 weeks. Finally they got the motor torn down and are telling me that the issue with the car is both the cylinder head and block are warped. Seriously??? This vehicle has been in and out of the repair shop since July 1st and they have found and fixed several problems but didn't realize this was an issue. I took the vehicle back to the shop this time because driving to work the temp gauge started to climb. I pulled over and shut the car off. 10 minutes later I started the car and drove to my office about 3 blocks distance. I pulled in, turned the car off and let it sit. It went immediately back to the shop the next day and has been there ever since. Kia Consumer Affairs is aware of the issue and I am waiting for them to get back to me on how they intend to handle. The car only has 77,000 miles on it. I understand that Kia has not yet recalled the 2011 Sorento but it should be. I feel this goes back to the engine issue they have been having.
