CarComplaints.com Notes: Kia really changed the design of the Sorento in the 2011 model year. Instead of a truck-like body-on-frame more capable of offroad adventures, the newest Sorento is a unibody construction and is much more crossover than sport utility. The changes brought a whole slew of problems, including a frustrating problem where the door that won’t open. Is it too late to go back?

Coasting about 20 mph (foot off both accelerator and brake). Dash went dark and engine stopped. Noticed light on start/stop button amber. This is same condition as when sitting in driveway and pressing start button once without foot on brake. (pressing second time start button is green and dash lights up) Was able to restart by putting shifter in neutral, pressing brake and pressing start button. Stopped at local KIA dealer and described what happened. Service manager said that without event code, there was nothing they could do. But for $98 an hour they could diagnose. Since this was an electrical shutdown, there wouldn't be any power to the computer to record an "event".
