CarComplaints.com Notes: Kia really changed the design of the Sorento in the 2011 model year. Instead of a truck-like body-on-frame more capable of offroad adventures, the newest Sorento is a unibody construction and is much more crossover than sport utility. The changes brought a whole slew of problems, including a frustrating problem where the door that won’t open. Is it too late to go back?

When you start the engine, you hear raffling noise for a few seconds—like grinding metal. After researching, I found the "Timing tensioner" was broken. So I replaced the whole timing chine stuff. I paid around $3000.00. But the problem was not solved. After replacing the timing chain a few days later, the same exact noise occurs when starting the engine. I brought the car to the center, it they told me that KIA remodeled "Camshaft." So I need to replace that too, which costs around $1300 -1500. I have no idea whether to replace the camshaft or not. But that was the issue. So if you have the same problem, you should also check Camshaft. That way, you can save Labor fees.
