I bought this car used and over all it's been a great car. I just reached 184,000 miles and it has broke down. The problem is a part that has had a recall recently and a lawsuit was filed and was won by Sorento owners. The recall was for the crankshaft bolt/pulley. My complaint is because the mileage on my vehicle is to high it does not qualify for the recall and repairs are not covered. I can't afford the cost for repairs at this time. Just doesn't seem right I feel that a recall has been filed regardless the mileage on vehicle it should be covered. I have seen a lot of the complaints that have been made all of them have different mileages listed up to 100,000 . I'm sure I'm not the only Kia owner that is having this issue.
Kia needs to do right by all the Sorento owners. Because of this breakdown of my vechicle I unable to get to work. If there was some kind of warning that this was happening I could fix the issue before it happened. I was not aware of the recall if I had been notified I could have taken it in.
My car is registered in California and I'm the registered owner some type of notice should have been sent to me. How else is a person to know of this problem happening until it's too late.... It's just not right nor is it fair. Knowledge of this problem by Kia should make them responsible for all vehicles to have this bolt replaced. Not only that they should have notified every Kia Sorento owner by either mail to news or newspapers. But no they didn't .. what's is up with this car company obviously they could careless about the consumer. Hell we bought their vehicles they should pay in return for what defects ate known regardless of mileage... WHAT'S RIGHT IS RIGHT!!
