I was returning from a trip and was stuck behind a car that was riding their brakes down a steep incline. About 5 minutes in, I reached a warning that my transmission was overheating and had to pull to the side of the road. It took 20 minutes to cool down before I could get back onto the road.

I was at a baseball game waiting to leave the parking lot when I began to smell something like a clutch burning. Before I knew it, my engine began to smoke and an alarm went off saying my transmission was overheating. I had to pull off to the side of the parking lot and wait 20 minutes for my engine to go below the redline threshold. My car wouldn't restart until the engine was sufficiently cooled.
