Car made loud knocking sound before oil change was due. Called dealership took it in, it literally died in the parking lot of the dealership. It is a 2021 only 24K miles on it bought brand new Dec 2020. They said my oil was way low causing the knocking and engine to stop. Still had 500 miles to go until oil needed to be changed.
They put me on a consumption test program. Have to bring vehicle back every 1000 miles. First trip back, vehicle was low, added a quart, and I took car home. After another 1000 miles, I take back to dealership, have to get a loaner car to leave overnight to a piston test/cleaning. Get car back and they said yes, I definitely need to bring back again, if the oil is low again and if piston cleaning didn't work, I'll probably need a new engine. So here we are with less then a 1000 miles with a horrible knocking sound, call dealership as afraid it will die on me again, they said bring it in but they have no loaner cars and have to keep it.
I called KIA customer service and they say since dealership has no loaner cars available I have to rent one for a possible reimbursement but they cannot guarantee I will be reimbursed (WTH). Seriously I have to come out of pocket for an engine issue under warranty and hope to be get my money back. With the amount of time I have spent and having to go back and forth to the dealership, waste my time and gas - and KIA has offered nothing to me. The agent on the phone even said she wished KIA was more customer friendly when issues like this occur.
Truthfully I do not trust this car anymore so looking at a possible buy back and to find something else I have started a buy back case wit KIA. . In the meantime praying my car does not die on the side of 95 until the dealership has a loaner car, they have no idea how long it will take fix it and I can't put out thousands on a rental car in hopes of reimbursement or take it now, rent for three days, apply for reimbursement, take rental car back, pick up loaner car from dealership. Absolutely the worst experience ever with a car company, my husband and I trade/sell/purchase cars frequently and never dealt with something this ridiculous. A BRAND NEW VEHICLE off the lot, now at less then 27K miles and they are talking new engine and again no apology or offer of anything from KIA, nothing but hassle. (The Dealership Jones KIA BelAir, has been understanding and the service team is great. I am frustrated they can't get a loaner car through them, but the inferior product sold to me is not their fault it is KIA's.) PS there is a recall for the same issue however my VIN is not under the recall - YET. I also found out there was a recall there I was not notified about for a software issue they fixed for me.
