The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH she had observed that the temperature gauge needle was in the "red" zone. The contact pulled over and let the vehicle cool down. The contact later drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and found that the "relay" switch needed to be replaced. The mechanic also observed an engine oil leak and noticed that the head gasket had been blown and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the mechanic noticed that the bolts that secured the head gasket were improperly torqued down and had damaged the head and needed to be re-threaded. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
