On Friday, March 27, 2015, my 4 year old twin daughters and I were coming home from my sisters home when I experienced issues getting the power sliding doors on my 2012 Kia Sedona to open. I have described in detail the issue on a separate post. The purpose of this post is to address the power doors opening while the vehicle is moving. This happened twice.
My van is at the dealership, where it has been since Monday. The dealership has stated that this issue is with Kia and not the dealership (I agree) however if they cannot duplicate the problem, Kia is not going to do anything about it. I have been waiting for a representative from Kia to contact me since Wednesday. I have advised the dealership that there is no way I will be placing my family back into that van until someone can determine what the issue is and fix it. If they cannot fix it then we must have another solution.
The service manager has been absolutely helpful but Kia on the other hand is not. I have found reference to issues with the doors on many other sites and all have had the same outcome - NO HELP FROM KIA. I have also found a case in which the consumer sued Kia and another in which a child was killed due to the door coming open as a result of a sharp turn, the child was ejected and killed. Is that what has to happen for this auto manufacturer to take action?!
