Check engine light comes on around the time the inspection was due, car won't pass inspection. I have been back and forth with the repair shop having every sensor on the pathway that the code indicated might be the issue. The light goes off temporarily after each new sensor is put in and keep getting inspection extensions so I can drive the van to work. The code doesn't lead the mechanic to any problems other than the sensors he already replaced.
My husband took the van to work and it stopped running while on the highway in traffic. He was able to safely coast the vehicle to the shoulder and called a friend to help him push it to a parking lot off the highway. We had it flat-bedded back to the repair shop and now are being told the engine is blown! Sludge in the engine. It is costing us about 6K to replace the motor. I still owe 6K on the van. What's the chance of this engine working for long since they are apparently known for this issue?
