2005 Kia Sedona brake system is not safe. I have replaced the front pads, calipers, wheel bearing, and disks multiple times. Wheel bearing and calipers were frozen and needed to be replaced.

I got my 2005 Kia Sedona in 5/2006 used. Since that time, I have had to have the brakes replaced (pads and rotors) at least 6 times, have had to have 4 sets of tires and have had to have the air conditioning replaced. The compressor in the A/C went completely out in 2009. This is all in addition to: Replacing spark plugs, fans, etc etc. I have spent a huge amount of money on this van and it still shakes, pulls etc and the brakes are about to have to be replaced again.

I have a 2005 Kia Sedona ex and the brakes have always been a little weak for the vehicle but after having brake issues with the rotors glazing (becoming to hot) and having to replace pads way to often about every 6-8 thousand miles I decided to go online and look up issues and it seems that model year has had severe brake issues that Kia knows about and says they are working on an upgrade that the owner can purchase but yet none have been released to date. Multiple owners complaining of exact same issues regarding the braking system being way to small for the vehicle weight and I thought this needed to be at least brought to your attention. Kia's fix is to replace rotors and pads but the vehicles have the exact same symptoms within short period of time.. this could and almost has caused me to be in an accident. Love the van hate the brake system and am currently investigating the use of aftermarket drilled and slotted brake rotors to reduce heating issues.. I am 37 yr old with a wife and 7 year old son and I don't drive my van hard but when I need it to stop I expect it to stop...

I own a 2005 Kia Sedona with the same brake problems as the other complaints. The dealer replaced them up until the warranty ran out and now it all comes out of my pocket. I've had the brakes done at least 5 times on this vehicle and this is ridiculous. Does someone need to die in order for this to be corrected?? the entire front end shakes and stutters horribly and every time I've been told my brakes/rotors need replaced.

I am writing a complaint about the rotors and brakes on my 2005 Kia Sedona. I know many others that own the same type of van and are having the same problem. I have taken it in the dealer and they have told me that they know and are aware of the problem but there is nothing they can do. They have told me that the rotors need to replaced and that the brakes also need to be. I have taken it in several time to have my brakes checked and have been told that they are fine and that there is something wrong with the rotors and that it is a dealer problem. I would like for this to be looked into more as to I would not want to have an accident with such a problem to my van.

I have a 2005 Kia Sedona van with less than 34,000 miles. I have been pulsating problem in what I thought was my brakes but now know that it is the rotors on my van. When driving especially on the highway when I apply my brakes the shaking and pulsation makes me think I will not be able to stop. After doing some research on the internet I find that many Sedona owners have had the same problems. I took it in to my local Kia dealer today(7/28/2009) and they told me that yes many have this problem but it is not something that is covered with my warranty. I have to have them replaced or turned at a cost to me of some $400. Why when so many people are having this issue why has no one issued a recall to find out why this is happening. I am just as frustrated as the other owners trying to resolve this issue. I guess it is going to take a few people getting hurt or killed before this issue can be resolved.

From the first day I drove my 2005 Kia Sedona off the lot it has vibrated when the brakes are used. Even after having them replaced it continues to vibrate so I did not realize it was a big big problem until I started to read the reports on it now I cannot wait till I have it paid for so I can buy something else...the brakes also make a moaning noise and/or squealing noise...this is not all the time but it is aggravating...will no buy Kia product again...the only reason I got this one was there was not much choice after katrina hit and now I am stuck with it for a few more years...why won't they find a fix for it before some one is really hurt.

Brakes squealed at slower speeds. Brakes replaced using Kia parts twice in 2 years. Eventually, braking at high speeds (over 35mph & on hwy) caused van to shake excessively, and steering wheel to vibrate, along with return of squealing noise at lower speeds. Kia parts used again to replace brake discs, rotors 01/09. Within one month the squealing and then shaking problems returned. Goodyear found other reports of this same problem and replaced the Kia parts with an upgraded aftermarket brand of parts. No problems since! we have also had to replace tires 3 times before this latest fix.

I own a 2005 Kia Sedona that I purchased new. I put the first set of brakes on it at 15,000 miles. It now has 52,000 and I'm going to have to put the fifth set on. I contacted Kia directly and they told me their wasn't a recall but there was a brake system upgrade that I could purchase. I asked if they were aware of a brake problem and they said only in certain areas, depending on the terrain. I am 32 years old and have never seen nothing like this and I have always lived here. At 52,000 miles I should just now be putting on the first set of brakes.

Have a 2005 Kia Sedona and the van has 22,000 and has been in the repair shop for brake problems over 6 times. Since 8/05 has been back in for service for oil leaks, remote problems, tire problems. The rotors have been changed, the pads, everything has been done but after a little time passes the noise and the pulsating comes back. The van starts to pull when you go to put on the breaks and it makes noises. Keep bring it back to the dealership and they fix it with new brakes, rotors, pads but the problem keeps coming back and back. Should not have had to replace the brakes and pads, and rotors so many times with very little mileage on it. Updated 12/12/07

From the beginning of the purchase in October, 05, I have had pulsating brakes that don't want to stop on contact. The local dealer informed me there was a part coming out to replace/repair and as soon as it was out, I would be one of the first to get my vehicle fixed. Every 3-4 000 miles at oil change and tire rotation, I have had work done on my brakes and Kia has covered the cost. Every time I go in and complain, they fix the problem and tell me it's still in "process". when my vehicle rolled over 60,000 miles, the warranty expired and now Kia is telling me they will no longer cover the cost to repair this ongoing manufacture problem.
