While driving at 10 mph, my daughter and I heard a clunk in the rear of our 2004 Kia Sedona LX. I was heading for a repair shop as a result and heard a second clunk and pulled off on a side street and drove 200 feet when the wheel bearing assembly came apart and the whole wheel flew off the van.
Consumer received a recall notice on rear outer bearings. Consumer could not get repair work done at dealership because they did not have enough parts to fix the recall. Consumer was placed on a waiting list, but no calls were returned. Concerned, consumer called Kia. And was told they only received 400 parts a week from Korea to supply all of their us dealerships, and did not offer any time frame as to when the repairs could be handled. No repairs at all, but has not been experiencing a problem.
On 10/17/04 while driving to work I heard a noise like I had a flat, when the vehicle was checked there was no flat. I drove the vehicle to the nearest exit. When I attempted to move the vehicle the whole tire fell off the vehicle, the rear drivers side. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where new parts were ordered. In my opinion I dont feel safe driving this vehicle because it could happen again and next time I might not be luckey. I could have killed or my whole if they were with me.
