Vehicle was in the shop for a warranty over engine at 146,000 miles. I went into dealership on March 12 2021. Finally was notified that vehicle was complete and ready to be picked up on February 9th of this year, 2022. So vehicle stayed sitting in their parking lot not being cranked for 11 months. Whenever I picked up the vehicle, it didn't make it home and had to be towed by dealership. My vehicle lost motive power and it was giving the 'Stop, and not drive. Hybrid system is not charging' error message.
Dealership said it was a hybrid software issue and they had to uninstall it and reinstall the software for the hybrid system. I was told once again that the vehicle was ready to be picked up at the first of March and it made it for 40 miles then l lost power once again with all the bells and whistles going off that the hybrid system was failing. My vehicle had to be towed once again back to the dealership but NOT on their dime this time unfortunately.
After 1 month of diagnosing it, I was told that the hybrid battery needs replaced. I complained that any vehicle that was left for a whole year and not ever started or ran would have a bad battery and that should not be my fault that the dealership took a year to replace the gas engine that was covered under Kia's warranty. I was told that the dealership would 1/2 the cost of $3500 to $4000 with me. That is totally unacceptable. Kia Consumer Services will not assist with any of the cost. Still waiting to get repaired.
