About 5-6 months ago I leased a 2014 KIA Optima. Almost 2 months ago it started idling high on start up to about 2000 RPM's (making the engine rev), then it followed with a tapping noise in the engine, that my husband described as the engine running rough. I took it to the KIA dealer where I purchased it and the could not find any error codes on the scan they did. They checked different things as instructed by KIA, still could not fins any problem, though the mechanic did recognize my complaints and said they were there. I was told my engine may need to be replaced if they can not diagnose a problem with a reasonable remedy. I was told they need to wait and hear back from KIA to do anything else. I waited two weeks before calling back, when they told me they still had not gotten instructions from KIA yet and they would call once they had. I wait another two weeks with no response, so I called back and now they are telling me I have to bring my car back in for inspection, to see if they can find the problem. It sounds like a run around to me, avoiding the fact they may have sold me a defective car. After reading some of these complaints I am very worried, and honestly think KIA needs to put out a recall. Ill keep my situation updated as things develop.
