I was driving around 45 miles and hybrid system warning, safely stop and do not drive. This happened about 3 more times on the way to the dealership. Brought it to the dealer told me to replace the battery. The sign came back up after about 30 minutes of driving.

Since I have brought my car, the check engine light comes out and also states that I don't have gas in my car... my car hasn't been in any type of accident and it should be this way when the car is still in good condition and well taken care of. I'm not a mechanic and haven't mess with anything for this to be happen.. while driving once I fill up my gas tank. I can drive down the road then all of sudden the car will so no gas and it's empty. The gas light will stay on or flicker off and on... so therefore the check engine light will stay on bc of this. Since the check engine light is on, inspection can't be done

My car began to smell like gas when driving and my car started jerking, and making a weird noise..so I pulled over on the side of the road. It smelled like fuel through my air vents while driving, and when I popped the hood to look under it with my boyfriend there was a leak, and it was spewing out fuel out of the pump. What was the scariest part about it is there was no warning light or any thing that told me there was a fuel leak we had to find out for ourselves. I had called Kia to see if they would replace it because it basically was a brand new car with only 60,000 miles on it and they said it was not under original warranty so there was nothing they could do for me. I had to buy the part myself which costed me around 500 dollars, then I had to buy a fuel line which was another 50, then get it replaced which costed me another 200. I was extremely upset because it was basically a brand new car doing this.. and I want to be reimbursed for my troubles. I was out of work, couldn't drive my vehicle, and had to pay for a problem that was not my fault. It was the manufactures fault. I am glad I caught it when I did and pulled over on the side of the road because my car boyfriend and I could have bursted into flames. I am extremely upset. I am never buying another Kia again unless they reimburse me for the troubles they have caused me and many others. I am scared to drive my Kia now knowing that anything could happen to it, or that my fuel pump may go out another time. The engine is definitely faulty and it has caused me and my boyfriend fear, and anxiety. We are scared to see what may happen next.

Car has not wanted to start 5 times. First started in November 2018. While driving on the highway, is has completely shut down twice in the middle of traffic and would not start. Once mid December & early January. Battery discharge warning came on so I got a new battery but still continued to have the same problem. At random times it acts as if it does not want to accelerate and stalls

I have been having repeated issues following the Kia theta II engine recall replacement (SC147) since June 2018. My car is practically new with 53K +/- miles, purchased new, and had all the recommended and required maintenance performed. I took my car to rick case Kia (dealer code:GA083) to have my engine replaced midsummer 2018. Since then I have been experiencing persistent check engine light (cel) issues for the same engine diagnostic code(P2191). Each time I take my car to the dealer for resolution, technicians give me different reasons for what they "think" could be the root issue. Thus far, I have been told the issue was due to bad gas, an O2 sensor gone bad, a leak, history code from another dealer not clearing the recall, and now a fuel kit will be replaced. It is my assumption that if Kia technicians truly knew what the issue was I would not have so many repeated trips for the same issue. To this date(December 14th 2018) they still have not provided a clear resolution. In light of recent events surrounding Kia vehicles, specifically Optima, catching on fire and engines randomly blowing up this is something that needs an immediate resolution.it impacts my safety as the vehicle owner and those driving around me. I have expressed how uncomfortable I am driving this car in the current state (with the engine light on) and my concerns are being dismissed. I am told that it is not a drivability issue and I can drive it away with the light on. It should be no surprise why that is not a comforting diagnosis as I have been back about 6-7 times now. I am currently making attempts to engage/escalate this with the Kia corporate office. In an attempt to be proactive I am seeking help!

2013 Kia Optima sx. Car loses power while on the road, engine warning light comes on. Car can't be driven past 20 mph or so no matter accelerator position. Car has been taken to dealer sevral times and a cause still unknown. Dealership changed engine cable harness and reset comuter (apparently settings were scrambled) and car then is functional. Last time, car lost power in highway and almost got rear-ended. Dangerous.

The contact owns a 2013 Kia Optima. While driving 65 mph, the contact encountered a very intense odor of fuel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed not to drive the vehicle because the fuel pump was leaking fuel and could cause a fire. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.

Car losses power suddenly and lurches. This has happend when car is cruising at highway speeds or when started, stationary. Once that happens car may have to be restarted to work again. Sometimes that works, sometimes it does not. When it persists for a while, maximum speed is about 5 mph if started from a stop. Engine warning light comes on and the code P2118 (throttle actuator motor current range) is shown by an obd. The problem has ocurred before. Dealer initially changed throttle but problem recurred. The issue was eventually tracked to a faulty engine cable harness. The whole engine harness had to be replaced. However, problem is ocurring again a year later.

The anti-lock braking system failed on this car. If you would hit a bump in the road while acceleration the car would detect a spinning condition and cause major deceleration being very dangerous when entering a freeway in moderate traffic taking the vehicle from 60+ mph to virtually 40 mph with no warning and no brake lighting to warn approaching traffic. After many visits to Kia dealer remained unaddressed until contacting corporate Kia and finding a posting on Kia Optima forum with another user that had same issue and was finally resolved with some hydraulic part replacement that costs $1,600 and was being avoided by dealers. When I brought this to Kia corporates attention they agreed to replace with that part which did almost resolve that issue except on rare instances car will still hesitate when encountering a bump on acceleration. After that repair however the anti-lock brakes are now failing with erratic pulsing on hard braking and less effective braking.

Wife and baby use this vehicle. When making a right turn from a stop, vehicle begins to slow and almost stall. Have had to pull into bike lanes quickly in order not to be hit from behind. There are 2 occasions when this occurs. 1) when at a stop on a city street, waiting to make a right. Foot off pedal, accelerate, engine begins to stall. 2) when rolling into a right turn (on city streets) acceleration causes start of stall process. We have not fully stalled as of yet. But this could be a bad scenario if it does. We have thought about gas vapor issues with the phoenix, AZ heat being 119 degrees, but if that were the case, it would happen other times and not just during turns. Thanks

The contact owns a 2013 Kia Optima. While driving 10 mph, the engine stalled and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the Kia dealer (fred anderson Kia of raleigh; 9209 glenwood ave, raleigh, nc 27617; (919) 785-4500) where it was diagnosed that the battery, the fuel kit, and the filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another Kia dealer (chris leith pre-owned superstore; 11000 capital blvd, wake forest, nc 27587; (888) 482-1325) where it was diagnosed that the control valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was still with the Kia dealer. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-333-4542 and stated that they would get back within 2 or 3 business days. The contact stated that the manufacturer did not call back. The contact also stated that they were not willing to provide a loaner vehicle. Case number: 12360215 was provided. The failure mileage was 80,000.

My vehicle has 80K miles on it and is serviced meticulously. I lost all power trying to accelerate onto the freeway and was almost ran down by a dump truck. I was able to limp my vehicle to the Kia dealership to find out the problem was the high-pressure fuel pump. I assumed that it would be covered under the 100K warranty only to find out that even though the car won't run without the fuel pump, it is not covered under the powertrain warranty. I can only assume that they have eliminated this problem from warranty because there have been so many cases of high-pressure pump failures on Kia's.. I will never buy another Kia product!!

Vehicle in reverse backing up on steep driveway, foot on fuel pedal, car began its automated hill holding function, while in reverse, heard high RPM, transmission was slipping into neutral, car began rolling forward, put foot on brake, brake failed, car accelerated rapidly, and engine died, then hit the wall inside the garage. I estimated, speed at time of impact approximately 10 to 15 mph. Noticed another entry filed similar to this, had same fuel, brake fail symptoms.

About 1 month ago my fuel pump went out. I have a 2013 Kia Optima. I was at 62,000 miles when it went out, which meant it was not covered under warranty. I had it replaced at the local dealership, it cost around $800 to replace. Now less that 2 months later I am having some hesitation and jerking in the car. Had the car troubleshoot and it's not the temp sensor. The car is too new for things like this to happened. Once I get rid of it, I will never buy another Kia, or will I allow my family and friend to.

This has happened three times now, and just the third this past weekend so I am finally writing a complaint. My Kia has a faulty map sensor, the dealer says, and when it goes out (about every 2 months) my car completely dies on me; I have no acceleration, brakes lock up and my power steering is gone. This is a very dangerous situation since two of the three occurrences have been on the highway. When it happens, I am forced to yank the steering wheel to a shoulder and let the car come to a stop. Sometimes it restarts, sometimes it does not. In all three instances, my car has had to be towed. This is very dangerous for not only me by anyone in the car with me as well as any other Kia driver's out there. I have filed my complaint with Kia Consumer Affairs but they do not offer a replacement, just money. While I appreciate the offer, money does not do anything for my confidence in driving the car. It is a brand new car, just one year old. I fear for my life each time I drive my car but I have no other option, I drive a lot for work. All I am seeking is a replacement car, I love the car and all it offers but it does not perform well at all and I am very fearful of this. Please help if you can or if you have had similar issues.
