2013 Kia Optima is the biggest POS car ever! Had the engine replaced due to recall. Didn't find that out until it died while driving. Now at around 140k miles I started having starting issues. For 2 months now the anti theft system would alarm and could not start the car. Nothing worked. Hours later it started. This happened at least three times a damn week. It got worse over time.

Now I had to have this piece of s*** towed to my house because it would not start at the store! It's been parked for 2 weeks now. I can't afford to bring it to Kia so I had my husband which is a mechanic look at it and he is dumbfounded. No clue why this junk isn't starting. Kia needs to recall this issue because I've read so many forums about this same problem.

Started out as intermittent starting issues then escalated to no crank no start within 1 month, with anti theft alarm going off. We first were told the battery on the keyless remote was dead, so we changed that. Worked fine for a couple weeks. Then it happened again. With a new remote battery we knew it wasn't that. Alarm and no start, no crank. I need to add all other components of the car worked, radio, lights, except for door lock every time the car would not start.

My battery is being drained by something, we have changed the battery 3 times in 2 months, and not those batteries from walmart either. We changed the ignition switch one of the times the car would not start, because that's what Kia told us it was. That worked for less than a week. The last 5 times the key would not start the car, we had to press on the starter relay, which that worked every time, until this last. Now my car has been in my driveway with no crank no start, headlights work, interior lights work. All the lights on my instrument cluster work, radio works, except the car!! Pulled the start relay and I have 3 ground connectors. Can anyone tell me why? There has to be wiring issues with these cars and Kia needs to take care of their damn problem!!

Literally all was fantastic. I pulled into Taco Casa to grab lunch and when I came out and jumped in -- nothing!! Fantastic - let's top off the freaking day with a car that won't start in 100°+ Texas heat! All the lights, windows, remote lock - everything seems to be working fine but when I go from the on position with key to crank position - NOTHING! Of course I can't stand outside the car to listen under the hood because, well, I have to try turning the key. Had a few people come up and mention of a slight clicking but I don't hear anything! They were all assuming it's the starting solenoid. However, I'm unsure of their diagnosis as I've dealt with a starter on previous car and it led up to going out - not just BAM, I'm not going to work after being perfect 20 minutes before...

Now to deal with this and figure out not only what the issue is, but how I'm gonna pay for a repair on a s* Kia!

I was headed to work but all of a sudden I'm frustrated because not once not twice but a couple of times I'm trying to turn on the car and nothing. I had to find someone to give me a boost and it turned on. I right away took it to a place where they check batteries and they said the battery is in great shape. I made an appointment to bring it to Kia and have it checked out. Turns out the computer says the car is great. Here I am 3 weeks later still having this problem and no one can find the problem. I paid $15,000 for this car and I've only had this car a year. I don't want to be on the highway driving and this car shuts off on me for no apparent reason. What do I do?

Optima EX 4 cyl

Two times now my car wouldn't start. Let me set the scene. Went to pick up friend at work and had time to kill before they got off so I shut my car off. Then when ready to leave car wouldn't start. Now this happened 2 different times and only happened when I shut off the car and stayed in vehicle. Both times I had to jump it and it did start but now I'm so paranoid I back into the garage just in case. I assume that since I stayed in the car without opening the door and getting out it somehow didn't quite care for this. This is minute compared to the other issues I have.

I'm sorry to say that my current experience with Kia is not a good review.... I just purchased a 2014 Kia in Dec 2013 and since that I've found myself on the side of the road waiting to be towed. My entire electrical system went out and I had to fight with corporate to assist in the repairs.... Needless to say that was eventually repaired. But here I am six months later and the car will not run so they replace the battery for the second time because that what they stated the problem was but to no avail I found my self on the side of the road again. Another battery change, REALLY? this makes no sense to me. Yes I drive the car on a regular but these problems should not happen so fast on a brand new vehicle. Ok now so I take it back to the shop and I'm told they do not have a clue what the problem is and suggest that maybe I look into a nother vehicle. REALLY??? Now it's about customer loyalty....

(Defined by webster: the quality or state or an instance of being loyal: A loyal feeling: A feeling of strong support for someone or something.)

Ok... So I am told that we are going to help you because we are sorry that our car has given you so may problems and we want you as a customer (I've sent others to purchase a car as well) we are going to let you see a car with all of the perks and things that you like.... long story short the bottom line is wayyyyyyyyyyyy up there and my term starts over and I don't see where the loyalty is being reference.

The 2016 Optima EX is a beautiful car but I feel like I'm in a catch 22 because my car stopped on me not because I stopped on it.. I guess I'm just kinda salty about the deal and this is no reflecting on my sales person SHE's AWESOME.... but I just feel they could've done better for me the one that drove off the lot thinking I was in my new nice car that turned out to be a LEMON with pretty paint!!!

I went to my bank and parked my car. When I came back to my car and went to start it all of the lights flashed and it would not do anything. I got stranded at my bank.

Update from Jan 31, 2016: It turns out that it was a parking sensor that went bad. $500 and a week without my car.
