metal shavings throughout a/c system
We bought the car used (only had 6,000 miles) from the dealership in early 2006. Not knowing any better we were amazed that car seemed to blow out cold air without the a/c even being on. Turns out the a/c condenser had been running the whole time and we had no clue until a screeching noise alerted us to some problem. Mechanic's diagnosis was metal shavings had gone throughout the system and the whole a/c system needs replaced. All for the low price of $1,200. This problem started when the car was under warranty but we didn't know there was a problem at the time. I'm convinced the dealership knew, however. The owner since went to jail and recently a new dealer opened. Kia should cover it as it started under warranty.
