2011 Kia Forte Koup SX fog lights just refused to turn on due to a shorting contact in turn-signal and lights steering wheel mounted twist switch.
NOTE This is a known issue to KIA that jussssst happened conveniently after the warranty ran out.
You guessed it, NO RECALL.
Doubly frustrating is when you gently monkey with the twist-on foglight switch the dang foglights flicker on but then they go out again.
No even duck tape wouldn't work - I wish
Not a big deal you say?
Try living in a CDN skihill town driving over whiteout blizzard-prone rural roads to hydroelectric dams where your FOGLIGHTS make the difference in visibility between you plunging into a river valley or not.
THE FIX:
So their service dept says you have to pull off the entire steering wheel and switch assembly,
THEN order a BRAND NEW LIGHT&TURN SWITCH ASSEMBLY that has a working foglight switch
THEN slap it all back together.
All for about $450 CDN with labor. For a known wiring flaw.
(Remember: the KIA part was designed faulty at the getgo, so chances are the same shorting issue will reoccur later)
