- Summary
- "TSB: VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN - AS A PREVENTATIVE MEASURE, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN SC119 HAS BEEN EXPANDED TO INCLUDE “ALL STATES”. THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES THE PROCEDURE TO REPLACE THE TIRE VALVE STEMS TO PREVENT GRADUAL LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE IN SOME 2011MY SORENTO (XMA), 2010MY SOUL (AM) AND 2010MY FORTE (TD) VEHICLES WHICH WERE ORIGINALLY RETAILED OR ARE CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN STATES WHERE ROAD SALT IS HEAVILY USED. THE STATES ARE: CT, DC, DE, IA, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VT, WI, WV KS, KY, NE, ND, SD, UT, AND AK. THE VALVE STEM ASSEMBLY IN THE WHEELS CAN CRACK IF THEY BECOME CORRODED. SUCH CRACKS CAN CAUSE THE AIR IN THE TIRES TO LEAK OUT. HOWEVER, THE VALVE STEM ASSEMBLY IS EQUIPPED WITH A TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) AND A SUFFICIENT LEAK WILL RESULT IN THE ILLUMINATION OF THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT. IN SOME INSTANCES, A CRACKED VALVE CAN BREAK OFF WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ADD AIR TO THE TIRES. TO ADDRESS THIS CONDITION, REPLACE THE TIRE VALVE STEM FOR ALL FOUR TPMS SENSORS ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES, FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS BULLETIN. BEFORE CONDUCTING THE PROCEDURE, VERIFY THE VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF AFFECTED VINS."
