Got it 2 months ago. Just last week, it started acting up at 2700 miles, jerking and revving the rpms. Today my husband took it out to see what was wrong, and it's definitely the transmission. You can't take off - it'll hesitate, then slam into gear. We called Kings Auto Mall Kia where we got it, and spoke with the guy on a Saturday who said he can't do anything without it throwing a code.
IDC, code or not, it needs to be fixed. You can tell the moment you drive it. When he took it out tonight, he was going up a hill and it kicked out of gear. He almost got hit by a huge truck behind him. Monday we are taking it up to Kings again to talk to a manager. This is very dangerous. After doing some reading, it seems a lot of these cars are having the same problem. Be wary... I'll update as this goes along.
Update from Nov 19, 2019: I called Kings Kia on Monday. Rob the manager said call Kia Roadside and have it towed in - they'll look at it. I called Kia Roadside - they tried telling me it would be $120 for the tow, even though my warranty says 5 years. I went off on him and called my triple a and had it towed. Later on Monday I went up to see Rob the manager - he was really nice. He sent me to Chris the parts manager. They put me in a loaner for free and said they'd take care of it. (The guy on Saturday said it'd be 35 a day rental). On Tuesday a guy named Doug called and said it was fixed - they found codes P0730 - P0304 - P0867F0. I asked what that meant and he said they replaced the transmission with a remanufactured one & it fixed the problem... So we shall see. I'll update as this continues. Thanks Kings Kia - the 1 day turn around was great. Up yours, Kia Roadside Assistance.
