Have you ever had the latch break on your trunk? You might not think this is an issue but it is. I was at the grocery store with my teenage daughter. We put the groceries in the trunk and went to close it and it doesn't latch... We tried getting it to latch but it was broken because the inside latch piece is plastic. We tried tying a shoe lace through the latch but we didn't get out of the parking lot before it opened. We moved the groceries and my daughter climbed into the back we laid down the seats and she held onto the trunk handle. I was praying it wouldn't pop open because then it would look like I've kidnaped someone and had them in my trunk!!
It was unsafe to drive that way but I had no idea how else to get us home. We then had to jimmy-rig it because of course the dealership couldn't get us in for weeks. I ended up ordering the part from the dealership a week later after trying to find the part. I couldn't get it anywhere else because trunk latches aren't supposed to go out that soon and they didn't have them in parts stores or online for the year and model. I got on YouTube and borrowed some tools from a friend and fixed it myself.
It was frustrating and scary as hell to be driving down the freeway 50 miles roundtrip to work with nothing but duct tape holding your trunk down. I do not recommend buying a Kia. They are garbage. I wish I had bought a Honda or Toyota. There have been so many issues with this car and this isn't as bad as some of the problems I have been dealing with regarding this car. As always the Kia dealership service department is so booked out you can't get your car in for repairs when the issue arises.
