The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil while driving at various speeds. The check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had the vehicle taken to an independent mechanic where she discovered that the vehicle had a defective O2 sensor. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to stall upon the depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact pulled the vehicle into a parking lot and called her husband for assistance. The contact's husband attempted to jump-start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact then purchased a new battery however, the failure persisted. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked her failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine) however, her vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving the vehicle in June 2020, the engine started knocking loudly and caused the vehicle to vibrate so I shut off the vehicle. After being towed, the mechanic stated the rod blew through the block and knocked out the starter. The engine needs a full replacement and based on my mechanics review this would not have happened had the 12/2020 recall been conducted more timely. The Kia recall # stated Kia dealership would pick up the vehicle & inspect for free. The dealership has refused to work with me or my mechanic, advised it would not be covered based on being out of warranty and avoids explaining why it isn-€™t covered or what the actual recall is (they will only state the name of the recall, not why or the details).

I own a 2014 KIA Forte and was hearing a ticking / knocking when I drive.  I dropped it off at service station Milton to be looked at.  The next day 4/1/21 I got a from them and he notified me that my engine is under 2 recalls by KIA and needs to be replaced.  He recommended that I have it towed there due to it not being safe to drive.  He spoke with KIA to let them know it was on the way with the reason of the engine recall. I have a Certified 2014 Kia Forte with 115,000 miles and I have had the car 5 1/2 years. I also have an Extended Warranty for 8 years AND 150,000 miles which I am in the clear of. Kia American is refusing to fix my vehicle. Main reason is because I am a secondary owner. That is not what is says on my agreement and warranty paperwork. They are still refusing to fix and cover the recall.

I received a recall letter stating that my car is part of a recall involving a defect in the engine that could cause an engine compartment fire and increases the risk of injury. I took my car to the dealership to address the recall. The mechanics at the dealership stated that my vehicle would need a new engine and that the engine will fail. Kia manufacturer is refusing to replace the engine even after their mechanics have told me countless times I have brought the car in that it needs a new engine. I have had to bring my car to and from the dealership 3-4 times now in the last 3 weeks after my check engine light keeps turning on and flashing continuously and my car won't accelerate like normal and will not drive past 40 mph. I have to floor the gas pedal just to move the car. Before I received this recall letter and took my car in to get looked at, I had no issues with my car accelerating and have never had a check engine light but now all of a sudden my car doesn't drive. The dealership damaged my car and are denying any wrongdoing. This is extremely dangerous to have my car in this condition I'm not willing to risk my family's safety or my own safety because the dealership won't take responsibility and the manufacturer won't go through with the repairs that need to be done for safety reasons and replace my engine. The manufacturer is not listening to their mechanics that have told me the engine is guaranteed to fail. My vehicle is not drivable and Kia will not do anything to fix the problem. I have no reliable transportation and the dealership will not give me a loaner car to drive for the time either.

An engine fire recall has already been issued relating to fuel and oil leaks for my vehicle. On two occasions I've taken my car in for repair service to their first Kia dealership in simi valley ca, and both times they've refused to complete repairs, saying the manufacturer's repair servers were down and inaccessible for the necessary service. On the most recent appointment (April 9), the service rep told me he'd give me a call once the repair system was back online, but that call never happened. Kia has not replied to my requests regarding this impairment of theirs. Meanwhile my car is burning through 1-3 quarts of oil a week, those gallons of oil loss have already cost me one contaminated catalytic converter, and I lack the work flexibility to continue scheduling fruitless repair visits. My car has a flaw that this recall should fix, but between the dealership and the manufacturer there has been an inability to provide that repair. The ongoing pursuit of those solutions has left me at risk of losing work should this nonsense continue- much of my scheduling flexibility has been exhausted.

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

This happened back in June of 2019. I left work normally and not even 2 minutes down the road, my car started struggling to move forward. It was bucking and could not accelerate, but still trying to go forward. Then suddenly it started making a very loud tapping noise, still bucking and then a large pop and the car stopped moving since it died in the middle of the road. This all happened within a matter of seconds. Smoke started seeping out of the hood of my car. I had no lights on in my car on my dashboard. I always had free regular maintenance(oil etc.) done at my Kia dealership. I obviously had to have it towed and got it to the dealership so they could look at it in the morning. They said they didn't know why, but my entire engine had just blown out for no reason. My car was only at 87,000 miles and it was just totalled. I wasn't worried initially because I paid extra for the warranty to fix any major problems like this, however I came to find out the warranty refused to cover the entire cost to replace the price of a new engine in my vehicle and on top of that, when the engine blew it killed the computer in my car, and the dealership also strongly advised I replaced several other things on the vehicle. I'd have to pull out my receipts to give you all an exact amount but we paid at least $5,000 - $10,000 out of pocket for the engine and computer alone. Today is May 8th, 2021, almost 2 years later and I just happened to be on kelley blue book trying to see what I can sell my garbage Kia for. I happened to enter my VIN into the recall checker and I could not believe my eyes, engine recall issued late 2020. I have not been notified by anybody about this and probably would have never been told seeming as they already basically stole my money from me 2 years ago. I am really hoping you can help me resolve this and more than happy to provide anything you need.

The contact's mother owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal cranking sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who discovered that the oil level was extremely low. The mechanic also mentioned that the vehicle was consuming oil internally however, there were no signs of any leaks in the vehicle. The mechanic also mentioned that the excessive oil burning had caused damage to the catalytic converter. The contact then took the vehicle to Kia mall of Georgia (4180 buford dr, buford, ga 30519) where they confirmed damage to the catalytic converter. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall and that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. No further assistance was provided. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

My cars check engine light came on and then recently my low oil light indicator has been flashing. We checked the oil and it is fine. Then on April 19 while driving down the road and my car completely stalled out and I had to steer to the side of the road to safety. I looked and all the lights are light up on the dash, I placed the car in park, turned the car off and waited a few minutes, and turned the car back on. I made it home safely. Now the engine is making a funny tapping noise. I had surgery so I was leaving to go to a doctors appointment today, started the car, and was backing out of my parking space and my car stalled out. I repeated the process of putting park, waiting a few minutes and turning it back on, but was too afraid to drive so I missed my appointment and researched 2014 Kia Forte. There came up an article about there being a recall on those cars. When reading and investigating further my car is doing exactly what the recall states. Check engine light eliminated, low oil light, car stalling, and engine making noise. They state to call Kia with the recall SC200 about this recall because of the risk of fire and death. I call my local Kia dealership they tell me it's not under the recall and they tell me they can't look at the car for the recall because it's not included. So I called Kia customer service. Explain to the girl what is happening and she tells me that there is nothing they can do and can't check it for the recall because the VIN isn't included. I now have a car I am afraid to drive due to the risk of it catching on fire or being in an accident because it stalling out. The recall states 2014-2015 Kia Fortes and Fortes koups. I have a 2014 Kia Forte that is exhibiting all the signs under the recall, but according to Kia I'm not included.

I received a recall letter for my engine telling me to bring in my vehicle in to have it checked out to be inspected and if necessary, repaired or replaced at no cost. My check engine light came on shortly after receiving this letter which prompted me to bring my vehicle in to van nuys Kia. Long story short my service advisor came back eventually, telling me that Kia declined my claim for having too many miles and also that I would be charged for bringing in the vehicle, even though the letter explicitly said would not be. My main problem here is that another customer, with the exact same car, 2014 Forte, took his car in with over 200,000 thousand miles and got it replaced with no problem. No mention about mileage or anything but the main reason I was declined was for having 170,000 miles when the cut off was at 150,000 and I have to pay around 7,000 to have it fixed. The recall letter mentions nothing about not being allowed to bring the vehicle in after 150,000 and even if it did, does Kia get to pick and choose who they help?

At approximately 100K miles in 2018 car began consuming what I deemed more than normal oil between 4000 mile service intervals as well as began a slight knocking sound. Kia dealership attributed this to 100K miles and normal engine wear. Knocking went from slight irritation to something is seriously wrong in the summer of 2021 at 155K. Had vehicle towed to my local Kia dealership for inspection where they informed me the engine was shot and needed replacement for around $7500. Took the car back home via tow truck as I did not have that kind of money for a car I had just paid off finally. Did research which led me to believe Kia had some known engine issue directly related to what this seemed to be and it was believed they would issue a recall. Held onto car until recall was issued and again had it towed to dealership. Dealer immediately informed me that I did not qualify for the recall repair as I was 5K miles over the limits for said recall SC200. My reading of the recall stated they would do repair up to and including engine replacement and warrant work for 15 years or 150K miles which ever came first. They stated this was limit for repair and not warranty. Contacted Kia Consumer Affairs and have been getting the run around for 3 months now as to whether or not they are going to repair my vehicle. I feel at this point I am fighting a losing battle for known issue and Kia has lost a customer for life as I wish I had not purchased the one I have now if I had known they were not going to stand behind their product. Out of the roughly 300K vehicles I doubt many will meet this criteria if that is indeed what it is so they will look good in saying they are recalling and fixing when in reality they are not fixing many at all.
