The issue with my vehicle is that there are times it won't start! The issue has happened a total of 5 times. I've taken it into a Kia dealership to have this problem reviewed and every time they cannot "recreate the problem" because of this they can't verify what the problem is.
I attempt to start the engine and nothing happens. The engine doesn't crank, the car acts as if completely dies, dead silence. I had my wife attempt to turn on the engine while I looked under the hood and again, dead silence.
The first and second time this problem occurred was at the gas station and it happened every time we finished pumping gas. I would tap inside the trunk of the car in the area where the gas tank is at and the car would start a few minutes later. I filmed myself attempting to turn the car on just to have proof. I took my car into a Kia dealership and they were unable to "recreate the problem" even with my video they were unable to determine the problem. The technician who worked on my car ran all sorts of tests and was confused and didn't know what the problem could be. But what he did tell me was the he cleaned all of the electrical wiring just in case the issue was related to that.
Fast forward to 8 months later and I'm noticing the issue happening more frequent. However this time, it's not happening after I pump gas it's just happening randomly. I searched online and seen people were complaining about this issue and brought up the idea of the "immobilizer" possibly being the issue. The immobilizer is part of the electrical security system that the Kia has installed. The security feature completely shuts the car down in an attempt to prevent theft, and allows the engine to work again minutes later. I informed Kia of the Immobilizer and of my previous experience dealing with this issue. Again they could not "recreate the problem" so they were unable to solve my problem.
Not sure what's going on and I wonder if there are others out there that have had similar experiences?
