bad A/C compressor clutch pulley bearing
My A/C compressor bearing is making a loud whining noise when the car runs. I've found several other scenarios from the same make and model online. My car is only 5 years old and has 70,000 miles. The dealership refuses to repair my A/C compressor clutch pulley assembly which is where the bearing resides. According to them, my specific VIN (hatchback model) isn't compatible with the A/C compressor clutch pulley assembly and only the sedan and coupe models are. However all three models have the same A/C Compressor assembly so I know the clutch pulley subassembly must be the same part. Instead they claim they can only replace the entire a/c compressor assembly for $810 dollars to fix the bad bearing. A $40 dollar bearing shouldn't cost $810 to fix.
