The contact owns a 2006 Kia Amanti. The contact stated when someone was in the passenger seat the air bag light malfunctioned. The air bag light remained off when someone was sitting in the passenger seat. The failure occurred intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer but they could not duplicate the problem. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the dealer had to duplicate the problem before any repairs could be made. The manufacturer also stated the passenger should sit in the back of the vehicle if the contact feels it's unsafe to ride in the front passenger seat. The contact stated the safety issue could cause serious injuries if a crash occurred. The failure mileage was 36,965.
