I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited High Altitude. I only have around 11,000 miles on it. I ordered it online from the factory...the sticker had my name on it. The vehicle is 100% stock.
Was on the highway and went over uneven pavement which sent my vehicle shaking so badly I was struggling to keep it under control and get it to the side of the road. Once my speed was below roughly 40 mph, the shaking began to subside. I was able to take my jeep straight to the dealership on 35mph backroads no problems. I got there, told them what happened... and the first thing they looked at were my tires. I only have 11,000 miles on these tires. They are Bridgestone duelers: 255/70-20 not labeled truck or LT.
The mechanic opened a "case" and jeep/stellantis directed what to check and did a back-and-forth between the agent and the dealer mechanic as to what to check or try next. A newer damper was put on first -still the wobble. They checked the alignment, tire pressure, and road force -all within normal limits. The mechanic let the jeep agent know that he has seen 20-25 jeeps in recent months with the same issue and they all have the Bridgestone tires on them. The mechanic advised me that the tire is not rated LT or SUV and the sidewalls are not supportive enough for the vehicle. He advised the Jeep agent that he would swap out my tires for diff jeep tires on the lot and test drive it. With the correct supportive tires on the jeep the wobble stopped.
I was now looking at paying close to $2000 for new tires for a vehicle with only 11,000 miles on it. The tires themselves are not damaged, used-up, or defective...they just are not supportive enough for the vehicle and the sidewalls are breaking down at low miles. I filed a claim with Jeep customer support. Tires are not covered by warranty, but I feel like they put incorrect parts (tires) on my vehicle during manufacturing that their Quality Engineers should have caught. It is causing safety issues when driving at a higher rate of speed...but Jeep will not pay to have this issue fixed even though I should have another 30,000+ miles to drive with these tires.
I opened a BBB claim and after a little back-n-forth a Jeep/Stellantis rep approved my claim for reimbursement. Told me to submit receipts of the tire purchase and that I would be reimbursed. I agreed to this resolution through the BBB claim and my claim was closed.
They are denying my claim again now that I paid for the tires and submitted my receipt. They pulled a Bait-and-Switch. I have no issue or complaint with Bridgestone. My complaint is that Jeep will not right their manufacturing mistake.
Jeep needs to own-up to this manufacturing error and treat their customers with more care and concern than what I have been shown. I will NEVER purchase another Jeep brand vehicle, or Stellantis brand-owned vehicle. They do not care about their customers and will make customers pay for their manufacturing mistakes.
