Rear lower control arm mount/ track bar mount failed. Appeared to have only half of the mount welded in a manufacturing defect. Quality control issue. Consumer heard a clunk/knocking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The right rear lower control arm bracket had separated from the frame. Manufacturer stated that the cause of the separation was that the right rear lower control arm bracket inboard weld was completely off-seam. Manufacturer repaired vehicle on 2/5/2020.

We bought this vehicle from hoffer Jeep in topeka, ks. The vehicle was won buy a person at a casino event so we are the 2nd owner. The vehicle had, I believe under 2K miles, upon our purchase. Since, we have owned the vehicle it has consistently had a "death wobble". I simply cannot count how many times at or under mandated highway speeds this vehicle has entered a 'death wobble". the most recent was from returning from manhattan ks to Kansas City the vehicle entered a "death wobble" no less than 4 times. The last time I was driving 5 miles under the 75mph speed limit when hitting some road chatter, nothing significant, caused uncontrollable chatter in front wheels, axle, generating strong vibration through the steering column and wheel. I released the accelerator and the vehicle came out of the "death wobble" at 27mph, on an incredibly busy highway. This was/is unsafe at highway speeds. The dangers it caused could have been catastrophic in nature and need to be addressed before someone is killed. This vehicle is stock and has not had its suspension, tires, etc., adjusted or manipulated in any shape, fashion, or form. Please advise on how this matter should be dealt with going forward? thanks

Driving at highway speeds the vehicles steering is dangerous and it becomes more pronounced in the wind and in the rain. It drifts dangerously and when trying to correct the drift the steering is not very responsive since it has way too much play so you begin to over correct causing even more issues. In the rain the vehicle has the feel as if it's hydroplaning and the impact from the wets roads and puddles causes the vehicle to drift even more. I found that many people have received replacements of the 1.steering box (68259507ae) 2.the damper (recall 77072360) 3.track bar (68394087aa) all of these parts have been upgraded by mopar and I'm guessing that was for obvious reasons but my dealership and customer service at Jeep/Chrysler refuse to acknowledge there is a problem yet the problem persists. I showed them proof in both videos and with the upgraded parts and it does not seem to matter to them that this is a dangerous situation. I will provide a link of a person who got these issues repaired this individual has the same make model and year Jeep I have. Https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=asz1wujbjby. I do not feel comfortable driving this vehicle it feels dangerous to me... my wife will not drive it at all and she was the one who wanted the vehicle since we bought it for her. This has been going on since we bought the vehicle. I have done the research and 1,000's of people are complaining about this, some have a dangerous wobble, some have really bad drift where its hard to keep the vehicle on the road at highway speeds, and some have both. Funny, I was told by my dealership that this was normal for a Jeep and its not acceptable I told him it felt dangerous and he agreed it drifts but says that normal for a Jeep. It gets so bad at times in the rain I have to get in the right lane and drive 30 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone. The Jeep has only 5K miles

Multiple attempts to correct (replaced all seals) and there is still a leak from front center (where hardtop meets windshield pillar). Suspension: Loud 'clunk' or 'thump' coming from rear when accelerating from both a dead stop and while moving at less than (5) mph and accelerating.

When traveling at highway speeds, a small bump in the road causes the steering wheel and front suspension to shake violently. The Jeep dealership has replaced the steering dampner twice but there is no guarantee it will fix the issue

After steering damper recall was completed I'm still experiencing the "death wobble".vehicle only has 2,600 miles and has been to the dealership 3 times and get told every time that everything looks good. Problem occurs when I hit a bump or a rough spot on the road and the vehicle and steering wheel begin to shake like the vehicle is jumping on the road. Typically occurs when traveling over 50 mph and only corrects after you slow down to 35 mph. Issue continues to happen and fca is not addressing a permanent resolution. I feel the vehicle is unsafe and can pose a life threatening situation for me and my passengers.

My Jeep started to shake violently after driving over some small bumps on the highway while driving 60-65 mph. I had to pull my car over. I thought I blew a tire, but I did not. I drove off without the vehicle shaking after I waited a few minutes. Unfortunately, it happened again in the same day when I drove over a rough patch on the highway traveling the same speed. I pulled over again and waited before driving off. I did some research and learned this is a know safety problem with Jeep called a "death wobble". I made an appointment to have my Jeep looked at on 2-4-2020, however the service garage had to cancel my appointment due to their internet being down. I have rescheduled for 2-7-2020. If the service does not correct the problem, what am I to do? thank you, [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Stabilizer control and throttle control light came on. Vehicle was taken in for repair. Vehicle was picked up and the steering felt light. As I'm driving on the highway I hit a bump and the steering wheel began to shake violently. I slowed down and it stopped. I called the dealership and explained what happened and I'm getting the run around. Claim it could be warp rotors. It's not warped rotors after I did some research. I found out this vehicle has what's called a death wobble.

2018 Jeep Wrangler has the "death wobble." Specifically, while driving above 50 mph, the vehicle somewhat frequently hits a bump or crack in the road which causes the front suspension to violently shake and essentially lose control. The only cure for this "death wobble" problem is to slow down to below 20 mph or more often slow down to a complete stop. This vehicle is essentially impossible to drive on the highway because of this problem. I cannot believe that this NHTSA has not issued a warning or a recall for this problem. It is beyond dangerous, especially in traffic.

When looking at the vehicle on a car hoist, unsatisfactory welds on the chassis were identified. The welds occurred at various locations and included defects such as excessive porosity, excessive weld spatter, and off location of the original weld and touch up welds. I am not a certified weld inspector, however I am a state certified welder, and federally licensed aircraft mechanic. I have been taught to identify weld defects, and understand effects they have on structural strength. For being a robotically welded frame I found the quality of some welds unacceptable, and should not have passed quality control at the factory. I am not an automotive engineer, nor am I a structural engineer, however I assume that the structural strength of the frame in this state is less of the original design strength. This issue should be dealt with before something bad happens.

I recently had a local Jeep dealer install a mopar factory 2" lift kit on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler rubicon a few weeks ago. Since the 2" lift was installed, when the Jeep hits a highway break, bump/pothole, anywhere between 30mph up to normal highway speeds, I get the "death wobble" in the steering wheel and the vehicle shakes violently. This Jeep still has the factory original tires and rims installed, and has no other add-ons to the vehicle. I have to slow the vehicle down to 25 mph for the death wobble to stop. I traveled 35 miles a few days ago on a state highway at speeds between 40-65 mph, in 32 degree temps, and the vehicle went into a "death wobble" (7) times, five of which I have on video for the upcoming lawsuits. It appears more vulnerable to a death wobble if the front drivers wheel hits a bump or pothole first. Additionally it appears to enter into a death wobble more easily if you are on a curve in a left hand directional turn. All known recalls have been performed to this vehicle that I know of, to include the updated work and inspection to the steering stabilizer dampener/shock. Someone is going to die from this issue if it is not fixed if they haven't already, either the driver of the Jeep, or a unwitting party in oncoming traffic, especially if this happens on an ice covered road! I have videos of the death wobble, but no photos, which are all that are allowed for posting on this website for this complaint. I would be happy to share the videos with NHTSA investigators if they wish to contact me.

Excessive shaking in steering wheel upon hitting slight road bumps (crack/pebble) not significant bumps occurring at speeds as low as 30mph occurs more frequently at highway speeds issue is more common if steering wheel is turned slightly to left shaking is excessive and vehicle control is lost at higher speeds. Only way to resolve is to slow abruptly to less than 40 mph. Vehicle has already undergone fcj recall fix of enhanced steering damper/stabilizer but issue is not resolved vehicle safety concern for this vehicle and any other vehicle near it when issue occurs issue has happened several times with as few as 3500 miles on the vehicle

While driving the posted speed limits, on any street, I am constantly fighting with the steering wheel jerks out of my hands, even though I had several professionals look at my tires, wheels, suspension components, tie rods, stabilizer bar, steering dampener, ball joints, etc. My Jeep has this massive death wabble, where I constantly have to fight the steering wheel! on 15+ different times (it does not matter if I am driving on a hwy 70mph, secondary St's 40mph, 5-lane St's at 50mph, or while driving in a subdivision at 25mph), just trying to turn my Jeep becomes a huge challenge, even on a good day! I believe that my electric power steering is also defective too, the steering wheel violently jerks me into oncoming traffic, & into others lanes without any warnings! I finally contacted 'synergy manufacturing' who told me that all of the steering components on the jl's are nothing but cheap garbage, that all needs to be replaced! they have a replacement kit, which fixes the problems, for less than $1,200! which sounds like a bargain, if it means that my family remains safe, compared to being killed in yet another fca death trap! also, one's fire retardant blanket (under the hood), is falling apart! I only have 1,800 original miles on it, its never even been off road yet! I've gone to 7 different Jeep dealers, & nobody has any new replacement parts, & all of their customers need to get in line before they shall even look at my Jeep! I would expect a flawless running & driving Jeep jl Wrangler unlimited rubicon, after spending well over $60,000!!! can you please help me? all one has to do, is search any of the Jeep jl forums, search youtube, e.g., & one shall see thousands of exactly the same complaints! never again fca, you lost me as a customer, its a miracle that my family & I aren't dead!!!

The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. While driving 70 mph over a bump in the road, the vehicle shook violently. The shaking in the front suspension caused the windshield to fracture. The vehicle was taken to glockner Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram of ashland (1041 greenup ave, ashland, ky 41101, (606) 329-8616) to be diagnosed, but the contact was informed that the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and was only evident when traveling 70 mph. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000. The VIN was not available.
